Can I use something like Permatex instead of a regular gasket on a SMTA carburator? Had to take it apart because the float was stuck I think. Gas ran on through the carb and out the vent on the bottom. If this is a no -no, I'll wait for a gasket to get here. Thanks for any info ! gordy

I've tried so I can say no. You can put a thin layer on the gasket but not replace it. The vacuum will suck it in.

I would be hesitant to use sealer on that. Too much chance of it getting into some area it shouldn't.

The only critical seal is the small passage where the idle fuel is drawn up.

Unless the gasket is torn or pieces missing, it will probably be good to reuse as is.

Gasket arrived today. Tractor runs fine, but have not tried turning it off with the gas still turned on. Thanks for the help.
