Always pull way down my driveway to a spot where tail of trailer sits real low. Was in a hurry this am and was gonna just load up by the barn. Truck and trailer headed up hill. Started up ramps, tractor just kept going up. Hit clutch and brakes and front swung around. Shook me up good. Then getting it on and off trailer some how bent tractor PTO shaft. Uggg. Looks like I got another project. Always say can't happen to me , proven wrong again.

Front end awful light with that mower raised up and hanging off the back. I have a similar size mower/tractor combo. I have trouble sometimes steering and have to use steering breaks to turn while mowing. Let out on the clutch to fast and front end comes up real easy. Not really surprised to see something like this to happen. Wonder if one break grabbed, and the other didn't? Or not as much? Not uncommon for one break to grab more than the other even if pressing down on both break peddles equally.

I'll bet the ramp came up and hooked the brush hog.I hate those legs on the ramps, always cut them off as soon as I get a trailer just put a block under the rear beam of the trailer instead.Last trailer is a hydraulic tilt bed no ramps.

Yes, very glad you're OK. Had a similar thing happen many years ago with the TO-30. Fortunately I was on solid ground - not as far to fall! ;-D

Sure glad you and equipment made it out with only a bent PTO and dirty shorts. Could easily have been a different outcome. I also learned from a similar experience that for my stuff even a slight upgrade makes a very big difference.

Getting it off took a lot longer than getting it stuck!! Got the boom pole and lifted front up level , put a bunch of 6x6 blocks under it then moved tractor with pole to other side and slid it back on straight. One side of the brakes does grab more than the other , probably what caused it to spin so bad. Lesson learned!

I was backing off one time and the ramps flipped up a little. I had the 3pt arms down on the 1020 Deere and one of them went through the ramp. It spun around so one front tire and one rear tire were off the ground/trailer. It just sat there teetering. That was a mess to get off there.

I carry a wooden block to put under the trailer receiver to prevent the trailer from squatting and disturbing the ramps.

I have a trailer similar to yours. It a sur-trac bumper hitch. My ramps, like yours would kick up. I cut the knees off and re-designed them. My knees will come in contact with the ground when tractor gets on ramp and the knees are under the pivot point of the ramp.

I pull on my Jubilee on the trailer all the time. I watch front tires and know exactly what board to put them on. Same when I back off. I only watch one side. Haven't fallen off yet. Looks like you have either a Jubilee or newer ford.

If you can't straighten the PTO, see if Rural King or TSC has a replacement.
Glad you weren't hurt. Did you need a change of underwear?

Mine's a gooseneck with triangular ramps, but somehow, the truck must have rolled ahead just a little and let them rock up just enough to catch.

It's a 640. With the wrong hood and grill on it. I got it that way. Gonna try to straighten PTO. Fliud was pouring out. Bearing and seals? Yep. Clean underwear was nice!

I used to haul my cutter like back and forth from the house here to the farm several times a summer. I used the 9523 same as the Allis 5020. I never hook the top link. I laid a plank and let the back wheel carry the cutter up the plank. The only time I ever hooked the top link was when I hooked it to my Oliver 1650 to lift over spoiled bales to let it down over them to grind them up. I use a heaver truck and still carry block of wood to put under the rear of the trailer when loading the Oliver 1850's or 1650. My ramp feet do hit the ground when down. With three tractors on I move ahead a bit to lift the ramps.

With the top link hooked you place much more weight on the rear tires in one place on the ramps and rear of the trailer.

Well dang mower won't lift high enough on that tractor to back it on. Bush hog is to big for the tractor. I load em backwards 99% of the time. Just can't with that combo.

you said your lift wont go high enough to back on...when mine is like that I come back at an angle and let the tail wheel start up the ramp and then turn the front wheels to keep it on the ramp going up as well as aligning the back wheel on the tractor up with the opposite ramp and when the tail wheel hits the dovetail then you can bring the front of the tractor around so the other back wheel aligns with the other ramp and back on the trailer...kinda like loading a nfe tractor with only 2 ramps...pretty easy to do as long as your blade and stump jumper clears the dovetail which it usually does as by then the rear tires are on the ramps and lifting the cutter higher...or perhaps just invest in a 3rd ramp...glad you are ok though

I always lower the mower down to the ground then drive onto the trailer. That way the front wheels aren't lightened by the mower. You could add fluid to your front tires if you use these two machines together very much.

Things do happen real fast all right. Like someone else said cut off the front support on the ramp. My ramp hooks on the trailer rear. I put blocks on the trailer rear to keep it from bottoming out. Stan

John,
I have to raise my 72 inch woods mower when I load or unload or it will put a stress on the top link. I even bent one back wheels on mower unloading.

The angle of the ramps are so steep when I load my little backhoe the back bucket will drag the ground. After it stops dragging I have to be careful, because front wheels are almost off the ground.
