(quoted from post at 18:04:31 05/23/17) Looking for the way to install new felt seal on the Backing Plate

It's a Ford jubilee and i'm doing a brake job. It has the same felt seal as my other 7 hundred series Fords, but have never replaced the felt on any of them. Looking for any "tricks" to get it in the slot.

I put new ones on one of my Fords a few years ago. I was doing a major overhaul at the time, and I am pretty sure that I cleaned and painted the surface, then used contact cement. It is critical that you get the surface clean because while the glue will stick to the brake dust you can't rely on the brake dust continuing to stick to the plate.

When I replaced the oil soaked felts on my Funk 8n, I beat the I beat the new ones into the slots with a hammer then had had to pound on one side extra to get it to fit inside the drum. Two years later, that side still drags a little. I was able to reuse my oil soaked shoes that had good pads but no grip. I soaked them for a week in lacquer thinner then wire brushed the surface and let them dry out for a couple of days before reinstalling. They work good (for an 8n) now.
