Old tractors

There must be something about old tractors that affects our brain. I've been wanting a project tractor for a while and found one with a non running Farmall 100. When I was thinking about such a project I was also thinking if I got one I could spread out the work it needed and thus the cost of parts over the summer months and maybe have it running by fall. Unfortunately its done nothing bur rain here this spring so I have spend my time working on the tractor which means I spend all the money and bought all the parts to get it running now. Good news is I expect to have the tractor running this weekend, bad news is I haven't learned a thing about costs on these things from the last projects I've done. Worst news is I will probably do it again sometime in the future.

I'm not a hoarder or collector. I'm a very happy user . Nothing like using a tractor my age to mow the yard. And it does a fantastic job. Ride is very comfortable. So I'm a very happy user.

As for effecting the brain, the jury isn't in yet.

I mowed this place with a Farmall 100 equipped with a belly mower for many years. It did a good job and was economical to run.

I sold it after I got a zero turn mower. The zero turn mower goes around all the other projects sitting around here a little easier.

The BN that is used to mow the yard was made the same year as my brother was born (1941). No electrical; just give it a crank and away it goes. Without an electrical system , the upkeep is really low.

It's obviously contagious.
I'm looking to overhaul a Massey Harris 44. I think I may have to take out a second..no, wait...a third mortgage.

My Farmall C has a mag too. I could hand crank it, but it has 12v mower battery, alternator, no water pimp. Very easy to work on. I like the 72 inch woods belly mower.

They just don't make them anymore.

never heard of a water pimp, but a pimp is something you probably don't want around any who! There was feller around here had a woman move in with him, apparently she had a pimp and the pimp got mad about that and thrashed the guys truck one night.
