My Diesel fuel station

Getting old makes it harder and harder to wrestle with 5 gallon cans of diesel. Saw an add on Graigslist for a 25 Gal tank with electric pump for what the pump alone was worth and ended up buying it. Seller had the pump tied to the tank handle which made it top heavy and very difficult to maneuver.

My scrap pile provided the raw material for a stand to mount the pump on and the battery I use for my sprayer provided the power. A 3/4 quick disconnect from eBay and a little paint finished it off.

Now I can disconnect the tank, throw it in the back of my pick up and haul it to a gas station. When I get back with it full my loader will handle the heavy lifting.

What a great idea. I need to file some of these ideas somewhere I can find them in the not too distant future. Thanks for sharing!

I bought a 30 gal one off an auction a couple years ago and I had a 12 volt pump. I took the cheap
plastic pump off and added my 12 volt pump to the top. It is awkward to move. I am going to copy
your way to mount the pump. What type of quick disconnects did you use ones for Hyd system

Quick disconnect was listed as a "HANSEN LL6ST & LS6-T30 SERIES 3/4" HYDRAULIC QUICK CONNECT COUPLER". It doesn't have a shutoff built in which eliminates any restriction. What you can't see is a ball valve on the bottom of the tank. The plan is to lay the tank down on it's back with the valve open, this should drain any fuel from the pump and line back into the tank. Then I can shut the valve off, pull the disconnect and roll the tank away without spilling very much diesel.

When I get the last piece, (swivel for the fill handle) I will see if my plan works..
