Talked with Delta Red

I sent Delta Red a text the other day checking in since we hadn't seen him post for some time. He called this evening to let me know that he is well
and has been busy doing custom work this spring. His computer died and he hasn't replaced it yet, and he did comment that he gets out the door a bit
earlier in the morning when he isn't watching the YT boards. He's thinking he might get around to replacing the computer but it isn't as big a
priority as getting corn and beans in the ground. Glad to know he is well out in Western Colorado.

That's good to hear. I always enjoyed his posts. Was thinking of getting out his way this spring, sure hoped he would be around to explain the farming ways out there.

He always seemed helpful and never was sarcastic in his comments to others. I miss him on here and hope he comes back. Although I can relate about getting out the door in the morning quicker when I don't get on here first. I'm glad to here he's ok, I was thinking maybe he wasn't

Good to hear. Hope he comes on back sooner than later, but I understand his view.

dopp creek........In 1958, I'd just graduated from college witha FCC 1st Class License, Rex Howell (KREX-5) hired me fer his NEW TV transmitter (KREY-10) in Montrose, Colo. This was in the days BEFORE internet, satalite relay. There was a gap inna the mountains at the end of Grand Mesa that I got the TV signal off'n the air and re-broadcast with some local commercials. Fun guessin' when Ch-5 was going to commercial so I could cutt-em OFF and broadcast my own. Hadd about 10-mountain towns that gott my TV signal. Room'n'board $25/week. Jackie made the BEST bread and sammishes. I'd hopp into my 1952 flathead Ford and drive up this really crooked road to the TRANSMITTER. Wore out the rear tires in less than 5000-miles. Complained to my Dad, he said his gov't car tires seldom gott 5000-miles. He was a gov't surveyor fer the Navajo Dam on the San Juan River in New Mexico (USA).

Used to go fly-fishing in the Unpompahgre River. Used to go swimming in HOT-SPRINGS at Ouray.........nostalgic Dell

I think of Red often, unfortunately it is in the context of a post that he made a couple of years ago to a thread that was about retirement. It moved me then and still does every time that I think of him.

Glad to hear you checked in on him and that he's ok.

Sure makes a man feel good inside when you know others are concerned about you.

The Ouray hot springs are paved with a swimming pool around them these days. Still pretty country. I'm heading that way the end of June.

I'll be driving through Delta around noon. Don't know where his place is, but I'll honk if I see any cool red tractors.

I don't remember why, but I thought that he is out east maybe off 92.
