IH 656 hydro and westendorf wl40

I'm in need of some help please. I have an IH 656 hydro and I just bought a used WL40 Westendorf loader to put on it. It came with John Deere mounting brackets and
I can't seem to make them work easily on mine without doing a bunch of home fabrication. It seems that in order to get the rear mount high enough for the loader to be level, that I'll be too far forward, having about 4'3" and I need around 5'.
Perhaps I should've done more thorough research before purchasing it, but I was certain it could be altered enough to work.
If anybody has a good picture of what the correct mount looks like, how to fabricate one to fit, or any other advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for the help. I've learned many things already from reading through other topics, but I can't seem to solve this one no matter how many places I look.

You should be able to get a mounting kit for that loader for a 656; otherwise some
fabrication will be necessary. Ben

Hey Curtkeiser, is that a ghost tractor there flying out of that building? Nice tractor with cab on it but it's a bit high for me LOL. Keith Hope I'm not the only one that can see it.

I know of a potential donor tractor in KS that has both front bolster and rear axle loader brackets on it. They look like they are for an IH loader. Email me
for the contact information if you think it will help you.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I decided to go with a local metal worker near me to fabricate the rear mounts. I was able to offload the new loader with my old loader, but it wasn't big enough to move it around easily..... so it is currently clogging up the middle of my already limited space driveway. Hopefully this will be one of my fastest and most reasonably priced options.

I cannot believe it would take a tremendous amount of "remanufacturing" and "fabricating" to make this work. As I recall from our own John Deere tractors, one key difference is there is a wrap around frame for the John Deere tractors, in which the front and rear attachment brackets are bolted to. I think if you remove that wrap around frame, those two brackets may even bolt right up and on to the tractor. We have a 3020 John Deere with a WL-40 loader on my dad's farm and a 4230 with a WL-44 loader on that farm, too. I have an IH 86 Hydro with a WL-42 loader at my farm. I know the two John Deere tractor have the wrap around frame that is bolted to the side rails and also up front on both of these tractors, and the front and rear attachment brackets are both bolted to that frame. Some years ago, I was involved in the installation of a WL-40 loader on a 706 Farmall, and later a WL-40 loader on a 460 Farmall. In both of these cases, I am thinking back to 25 plus years ago, but I do distinctly remember neither of these tractor had the inside wrap around framework. I tend to also think that both of these attachment brackets are pre-drilled for IH tractors. It might just be you need some specific bolts for attaching to the tractor. You can e-mail me directly and I may be able to provide pictures of my 86 Hydro to you to help out. That 86 Hydro is essentially a newer version of your 656 Hydro. I think my WL-40 is essentially a newer version of the WL-40 loader, too.
