Looks like it could be Cottonwood. Did you buy this from a local nursery?

Won't be long before we start seeing the white fluff flying through the air here. I've yet to actually see one of the Cottonwoods here, but sure do see evidence of them being here!

I have sycamore trees. No signs of seeds, no evidence of the shell seeds would be in.
All the chips are full of this cotton like fiber stuff.

I'll have to ask the tree trimmer next time I see him.

Dean,
You are right about sycamore trees. There are many of them in Terre Haute. They are ISU's tree.

I hate the tree, as soon it produces leafs in the spring it starts dropping the big leafs. A messy tree. I made a deal with neighbor, if I cut down my last sycamore tree he would too. We were both very happy to get rid of them.

This is the first time I've gotten a load of chips like this. Good bet it is sycamore because I don't see any dark bark like a maple tree would have.

No one wants sycamore for fire wood, they say it too soft wood.

Thanks you U All's. Mystery solved.

Here in central Ohio the sycamore tree is one of the best trees providing eagle nesting habitat left. Would sure hate to see them disappear from our landscape.

Read an article once about trees and it called the sycamore "the bones of the woods" due to its bark turning white with no leaves during the winter months.
