Used Powder River?

Still on the hunt..I found a used Powder River squeeze, head gate, and trailer. Guys asking $2000 but he can't tell me anything about it...model number or age...nothing. I sent an email with pics to Powder River today but haven't got a response yet. I've heard some of their newer stuff is t as good as the older stuff. Anyone have any idea where this falls? How big of animal will this handle? Probably can get him down some. How well does this compare to Prieferts s0191 or Filsons entry level stuff. For most and some of the other higher end stuff is just to expensive for my small operation...

Been using a Powder River chute like that, only probably an older model, for many years. Works OK and will handle a 1500# cow. A little noisy but all the old chutes are that I have seen. I bought mine at a farm auction many years ago for less than $100, which was a real bargain. Got a new quadrant latch for the head gate from them a few years ago so think parts are still available although most anything can be welded if needed with possibly the exception of the quadrant, which will wear some over a long period. Two sons and I also have a portable For-Most chute and like it very well. They are available with manual or self-closing headgate. We have the manual which we like better than the self-closing but everyone has their preference. If a one-man operation, would definitely want the self-closing head gate.

That one looks like it has been sitting in the dirt for a while, I would look closely at the bottom. Something may be rusted out. Not a deal breaker, just something to check.

As far as know, Powder River stuff is first class.

Powder river used to be the Cadillac of headgates and chutes. Check for rust and try it out. Like has been said they are a little noisy. That sounds a little pricey too me but that is asking price. I would think no more than $800 if it's in good condition.

It looks like a manual head gate. If so, I would wait and look fore an automatic. I don't know where you are in Ky, but there is an auction at campbellsburg May 20, that usually has several.
