Side Step for a JD 825i Gator

OK guys, I need some advice from the think tank.
I have an 825i Gator and to get into the unit requires a 16 1/2" step-up from the ground.
No problem for me, but my wife has had hip and knee replacements and it's a bit much for her. She can handle a 12" step or less. My question is, should I break out the welder etc and make a step or does anyone know of a manufactured step that will work? I've looked on-line, but can't find anything suitable. I was thinking the perfect step would be about 10" from the ground. It only has to be wide enough for one foot.
Surprisingly, mother Deere hasn't thought of this yet.

I'm open to any and all ideas short of a "hotshot" assist to the seat. I'd like to live for a couple more years anyway. LOL
Thanks in advance, Larry

Look on Ebay, search "pick-up steps".

There are several to choose from, don't know exactly how you need to mount this, but it may be a start.

Thanks for the suggestion Steve, but I already looked at those.
However I think I found what will work, a "grab handle". I'll cut a length of angle iron, drill some holes, bolt the "Grab handle to the horizontal leg of the angle and bolt the vertical leg of the angle to the predrilled holes in the gator.

At a factory I used to do work for, the woman that drove the fork lift injured her leg/foot. She needed help to climb aboard. Their staff made a step out of wood for her , a short piece of rope and it could be deployed or retrieved at will. Worked for them. :)

This is a step from a JD 3 series tractor mounted on a 2 series. Not a great picture but is a common modification.

That"s what I did to get into the Dodge truck 2 years ago when I had my second hip replacement. Truck is very high- I"d set the box, and pull it up with the rope after getting into the seat. Toss it out to exit, too.

If you go to a forum called green tractor talk they have multiple posts about it. I just stole the picture from one of the posts. I'd post a link to it but I'm not good enough with computers to do that. The JD part # is LVU18332. I think it's $30.
