Local radio station plays that tooooo much. Tired of hearing it all the time, so I agree.

You inspired me to learn something this morning. While I've heard Black Betty by Ram Jam many many times I didn't realize the extent of the song or the term. Originally it was an African-American work song brought to the forefront by Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter. Later it was covered by Ram Jam, Tom Jones, and Spiderbait.

The origins are trace to an early marching cadence in reference to a flintlock rifle or a "Black Betty" similar to the British reference of "Brown Bess". Historically Black Betty has also been used for a reference to a musket, a bottle of whiskey, a whip, and a penitentiary wagon.

Gets played here in Mi. a lot also. More than you would think it should. On a side note, seen Ram Jam live in 79 at the old IMA in flint. Opening act for Brownsville Station.

We passed a Black Kenworth pulling a Dart trailer on I80 yesterday morning coming out of Chicago, that didn't happen to be you by chance?

No, yesterday morning I was on my way up 35 out of tx. Probly in Wyoming somewhere.
