Manual hubs on 1990 Bronco

I my old Bronco still had the automatic hubs on it when I bought it. I paid a shop to install a set of stainless steel "Mile Marker" manual hubs. I noticed today that both hubs are loose. The entire hub center moves around a little bit on both sides. It locks in and out like it should but shouldn't the hub center be tight (seal the grease in and the water out)?

We use this vehicle to check cattle.....

Going back a number of years here.... Thinking there was a little looseness in the knob on our replacement hubs on our Bronco. Had to replace ours because a spring probably worth a nickel failed. No replacements available. Had to get new hubs!

Is there a ring of socket head screws holding it on?

If so, try tightening them, see if it will tighten up.

If it tightens up, be a god idea to talk it apart, clean, inspect, and pack the bearings, probably full of water and grit.

A little looseness there is completely NORMAL.

They are (sort of) sealed by an "O" ring between the hubs you had installed and the inside bore of the vehicle's wheel hub.

After a little while, a bit of rust, dirt, and corrosion will set in, and the wiggle will cease, and they'll be stuck in place by the next time they have to come off.
