How I did it

Neighbor came by and needed 18 machinery bushings and told me he could not find them in town.He had a box of 1/2 inch washers and the od was about right. I stacked them on a 1/2 inch bolt and drew the nut up tight I had him to weld a light bead on opposite sides of the stack ( he is an expert welder, worked for me several years) After they cooled, I removed the bolt. I chucked the stack of washers in the three jaw chuck and drilled them with a 3/4 bit held in tailstock. He ground off the welds and had 18 machinery bushings.

It is nice to have a lathe. I have wanted one since I was about 8 years old, and learned what they were. Finally got a 10 inch South Bend about 25 years ago. Not very skilled with it, but I get by.

Wow, wish you would have taken a pic of the shop-made bushings.

I used a lathe as a kid, but was just a teeny tiny model. Was very high quality, but you could easily carry the whole thing with one hand.
