John Deere G need some help

I did post on the Deere forum. I have worked on most 2 cylinders over the years. Here is my issue I have a G we are going over. When we took the flywheel off I had to make a puller (used the two holes in the wheel) and a rod to the crank and it was on there!! Now putting it back on it just don't want to go. What am I missing? The oil seal pin is lined up with the slot, the engine was timed but it just will not go on the splines only a about 1/2 way. Lets just say I never had quite such an issue with A and B. Thanks for any help heck guess its better than one being loose on the crank!!!

Just might be the fix or not. I had this happen on a splined rear wheel. Took a little square shoulder bas***werd file and GENTLY cleaned the grooves and ridges. Just a tiny amount of a rust film. Still went on a bit tight, but it went on. On another similar problem I used the sand blaster on a hub to clean some rust out. NOTE, this was with one of those little hand held blast guns not a full blown blaster. Make sure you clean out all of the sand!!! Rust expands and can really tighten stuff up. Hope this helped.

Yes on the rust, I am more worried I did something wrong (master spline etc.) Just don't dare to get a "bigger hammer"

How did you get the nut loose to take the flywheel off? I can't get it off on my G.
I always use silicon to put a flywheel back on. It is slick when wet and ten years from now it will come off like you put it on yesterday.

Very carefully drive two chisels on either side of the splined center hole and it should expand it enough to slide on the crankshaft.
