I sure hate to talk tractors here. (big grin) BUT, I bought a newer tractor and find the loader controls to be back-a$$-wards as in....... up on the stick is down,(all the way up is float) and down is up, this is with the handle looking back straight at ya, is this normal or something that needs to be addressed?? I have had a lot of time on a skid steer and this just seems weird to me.

float on handle would still be in the up position changing the hoses would only allow loader to float in upper position?? correct??

It could be common if the controls are in front of you, more so if those controls are vertical, or on a slant dash like a JD 3020. If the console were beside you, the normal positions are reversed...ie, move the lever back to raise the loader. Kind of like fixing in your mind where the pivot point is.

JMS THANKS! That is why I love this site! A simple solution to my loader vs skid steer control dyslexia! All I need to do is fab up the loader handle from horizontal to vertical to match my skid steer, Duh, sometimes I can't see the woods due to the trees!! Forward down and pull back for up

Many aftermarket valves of the type used on loaders have handles with extra pivot pin holes similar the one in this photo...

Rotate the stationary pivot 180? in relation to the valve body and use the other hole in the handle as the pivot point and the operation of the lever is reversed.

Yes changing boom cylinder hose orientation will not change float location on spool. I agree with Bob that you should try to relocate handle 180°.

Good post Bob!

That's too simple - I'da screwed that up and had oil on everything and still been unhappy with it.

That is correct. My loader is that way. Mine is factory IH. Pull handle goes up. Push goes down. Push all the way is float.
