Tell me why a delco pf 47 is around $4 at Wal-mart and delco pf 57 is closer to $9 at O'Reilys? Every place have to special order them. So I guessing they are not very popular filter. I use filter on my 20 hp honda.
'
Auto zone's pf 57 is around $4, but their supplier is out of them. They too are special order. The zone says keep calling back and they will see if supplier gets more in. I told the zone, I'll buy a case of them when they do. I change my oil about every 60-75 hours. Only takes 1.5 quarts.

So does anyone have a filter for a 20 hp honda air cooled for around $4? All The places in town have crossed the pf 57 to STP and fram filters. Would you use a STP or Fram?

This is from memory so I don't know which is which, but IIRC, one of those filters has an anti drain back valve and the other one does not.

That and production/order volume could easily account for the cost difference.

The guys at the website bobistheoilguy.com cut a Fram apart and found cardboard. I would never use one..I like Wix or Hastings...

Did you ever find a local ac Delco dealer in town like we do north of you? I buy cases of Hastings for all my twins from our dealer for less than $2. I do spend a decent amount with them monthly however. I might be going south of Paris Illinois this week, ill put two cases on your porch!

Rock Auto has the PF47 for $3.38 each. I put 10 filters in the cart and shipping was $7.99.
I then deleted the PF47 filters and put 10 PF57s in my cart. They were $1.42 each with an additional $6.99 for shipping.
You can easily search the net and find a 5% discount that they always have.

"I might be going south of Paris Illinois this week"

I don't mean to hijack Geo's thread, but have you stopped by
the Allis Chalmers museum in Paris? Dale Haymaker has over
100 AC's there, one of every type of the letter series including
a Potato special B and a Waukesha powered B, single
rear wheeled tractor for horse drawn equipment, etc.

Even a building setup as a replica of an AC dealer, complete
with signage and New Old Stock parts on the shelves.
Another one full of pedal tractors and other AC toys.

He spent a lot of time, 2-3 hours, giving us a tour.
His [b:0aa3a94ad7]website[/b:0aa3a94ad7] used to ask you to call first.
It's his personal collection and farm. There was no charge
when we were there, but they will accept a donation.
That's a lot of lights and heating.

There's also a nice Indy Car museum there in TH.
Looks small from the street, but once you go in there's a
whole 'nuther room in the back full of Indy pace cars, etc.
I think they asked for a $5 donation. It wasn't much.
They guy there also gave us a nice tour explaining what each
car was and why it deserved to be preserved in a museum.
I wish I could remember the name so I could give them credit too.

I checked PartsGeek.com, they were $5+ and $10.99 shipping, but forgot to check for quantity discounts, and didn't look at RockAuto.

I called my Napa, no pf 57. They crossed referenced it to a napa filter about 8 bucks.

What is SFI 21334? is that pf 57 part number or a brand of filter I never heard of????

Oliverguy.

I've never used hasting filters, not even sure who sells them in Terre Haute.

Paris, Ill. is north and west of Terre Haute. What route do you take to get there? If you come down 63 and then west on 163 I could meet you in Clinton, In and save you from coming into Terre Haute.

I worked in Clinton for 31 years, it's about a half hour drive.

Two cases would last me a long time.

Where exactly is your dealer? Occasionally I drive to my sisters place at Bass Lake, In. . My youngest sister and her family have a HVAC business in Knox.

My dad had owned Riverside dairy north east edge of Knox. The yellow river ran through the farm and the cows would stand in the river and make yellow each time they raised their tails. We milked, pasteurized, bottled and delivered it. Dairy ended when I went to college in 1967

I left my email open.

Those are the NAPA ProSelect part numbers.
If you go to napaonline.com you can look them up and maybe find a store close by that has them.

Napa has a full line of filters based on how good of a filter you want.
PF57 crosses to these Napa filters.
SFI 21334MP NAPA ProSelect $2.29 in stock at my local warehouse.
SFI 21334 NAPA ProSelect $3.49 in stock
SFL 31334 NAPA Silver $3.99 in stock
FIL 1334 NAPA Gold (same as a wix filter) $8.49 in stock
PFL 41334 Napa Platinum Regular $12.99 on sale for $8.24 in stock

Thanks for that info. I worked in Paris 25 years ago as a co-op student with Purdue. I'll look that up and might take a look. Appreciate it!

I use NAPA Gold (Wix Filter) and Baldwin. Hastings and Baldwin are the same filter. They are both owned by the same company.

John,
I called my Napa and they have the filter SFI21334 in stock for $3.49.

So why do you think when I called them I was told my PF 57 filter crossed over to their more expensive napa gold filter and never mentioned the SFI21334 filter? My guess is Napa makes more money selling the gold filter.

Who makes the SFI21334 filter?
thanks

NAPA filters are made by WIX. NAPA is redoing their filter numbers because WIX is changing theirs. a 1040 NAPA filter used to be the same as a 11040 WIX . now WIX oil/hyd filter all start with a 5 either 51 or 57 so would be a 51040. fuel filters mostly start with a 3 and air filters with a 4. NAPA used to be 1 were oil/hyd 3 fuel and 2 and 4 air. the NAPA gold and silver are much the same filter inside just the silver is a second line so they can compete
