Deutz D4006 Fuel System Issues

Hello All,

Our Deutz D4006 sometimes runs an hour before sputtering and stalling out or sometimes it runs only about a minute before dying. After this occurs, the only way I can start the tractor is to bleed the fuel lines of air bu using the manual lift pump.

I took the fuel line apart that runs from the fuel tank to the fuel filter.

The first time I took it apart the fuel was just pouring out of it, which led me to believe that this fuel line and fuel tank were ok.

Another time I took the line apart and almost no fuel came out - it just dribbled out in drops! I turned the fuel shut-off cock almost fully counter-clockwise (I thought this meant that it was fully open) and nothing at all came out. I turned it almost fully clockwise (I thought this meant that it was almost fully closed) and the fuel began to dribble out in droplets.

This makes me think that the shut-off cock has issues and I would like to replace it.

Here are my questions:

1. What else could cause these problems that I have described?

2. Where I can buy the fuel shut-off cock? I have looked everywhere and I cannot find it. I have the part # from the Deutz parts manual that we bought from this website but I still cannot find this part.

3. How difficult is it replace this fuel shut-off cock?

4. How can you tell if the fuel tank has blockage?

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

I would start with removing the tank, cleaning it out with E85.

Sounds like there is slime growing in the tank, getting in the fuel valve.

We have a d6206 n 7206 and when they do
that the shut off cock if usually
blocked with dirt n crude. Blowing back
into the tank with compressed air will
sort the issue for a while but the shut
off cock can be undone on ours and
taken out of the tank then blow it out
problem sorted. Easier with 2 people.
One to hold finger over tank hole n 1
to take out and clean or you lose a
tank of fuel real fast

Like others have said take the valve off and
clean the tank and valve. A good place to
get parts is "Deutz boys" in PA. Very good
guys.
