Does this look odd to you?

This is my uncle's tractor - one that will be on his auction in a week. Why is it that a Versatile tractor has a Ford emblem on the front? I
wondered if it had a replacement nose after a bash, but I'm sure it doesn't. He's kind of a "bailing wire and ugly" kind of guy. If the glass broke
you did without. If you didn't have a keeper you used a nail and it stayed there for decades. He wouldn't replace the nose section.

Is there something between those two companies? Maybe a mixup? It reminds me of the brand new Ford Taurus I looked at on the lot that had
a complete Mercury Sable interior.

Versatile was owned by Ford for awhile, I think since the '80's. One could find blue Bi-directionals (a Versatile thing) too. New Holland equipment wore that same Ford emblem for awhile, too. When Ford/Fiat merged with Case IH, the Versatile line (or at least the name) was spun off.

From tractordata:

Versatile is a Canadian manufacturer of four-wheel drive and large row-crop tractors. Verastile traces had its roots with the Hydraulic Engineering Company of Toronto, which was founded in 1947 making small agricultural implements. Versatile was purchased by Ford-New Holland in 1987 and build New Holland four-wheel drive tractors until CNH was required to divest the plant in 2000. Buhler Indutries acquired the Winnipeg factory and the rights to the Versatile name. Versatile is now owned by Russian manufacturer Rostelmash.

It boosts the horsepower by 20%! Now if you can paint it green and
yellow before the auction you might add a little to the price too. ;)

Seriously though, Ford/Versatile were a team as others said.

Umm, hate to burst your 'bubble'. a Taurus and a Sable were the same car, different labels and different sales pitches/badges (we don't need no stinkin' badges - Sierra Madre - Frumper Bogart). Ford kerflaven and Mercury Gizmoter - look at the history. How many GM products were made on the same assembly line - same every thing except some body 'mods'.

As others have pointed out they came like this in 87 and 88 after Ford bought them and before the blue paint. Looks like a pretty nice unit for its age. Be nice to have on my yard.

I've got a sales brochure from the 80's showing Ford, New Holland, Versatile all together in the own colors talking about the recent Verstaile. All they did was add the Ford badge to NH equipment and Versatile tractors, Versatile later changed to Ford Blue and markings with a small "Versatile" decal on the hood.

My neighbor has the same model but it's blue. He bought it new the first year they were blue. That is a good tractor with plenty of power once you tire the L-10 up.

That's what I mean - they put the wrong interior in the car. It was probably intended for the next one, but that Taurus got a Sable interior.

You are full of it! That would NEVER happen!

Cummins.

In this case a 325 HP 14 liter.

That is incorrect! This tractor has the Cummins L-10 Engine which is a 10 Liter with 230 HP!

You are correct, coupe. At a glance I misread the model number as "946", instead of "846".

While the Taurus and Sable were basically the same car, the trim options were different. The top level Taurus (LX) had the same interior as the Sable GS which was the low end Sable. The Sable LS had an interior almost on a Lincoln level.
