Down visiting daughter and went to the Houston Livestock and Rodeo yesterday. They had some great exhibits. I have attached some photos. Saw the Rodeo and Alan Jackson. Great show. Enjoy the pictures.

Being in my back yard (75 miles away)I try to go each year.Always interesting .One of the best shows to see for anyone that has any rural interest. Not just for cowboys.I enjoy the horse and mule day draft pulling.

Man that's some bovines. One year my dad bought the reserve grand champion; white face like these. He had a semi-famous steak house and had the bovine out front for about a week in a pen soliciting takers. Sold prime cuts off him for $10. That's when a Prime Kansas City corn fed, aged, top sirloin to feed 4 was $7 with all the (deluxe) trimmings but beverages. He offered the boy who raised and showed him, a steak "on the house" and he was polite but refused.......wonder why!!!! Grin

One year I met Trigger Jr. (Redder and white mane and tail, no palomino showing on that boy...but had daddy's white mane and tail, typical RR saddle with all the trimmings) but Roy was out of the area and I missed seeing him. Great shows as was the Rodeo that went along with the Fat Stock Show, the Shriner parades in the Colliseum also.....then there was Quo Vadis, Ben Hur, The Robe, and several other good ones at the Lowe's State Theater.

I deliver liquid feed to longhorns. Gentle most of the time. They can get mean when protecting the young. At the feeder they can get dangerous pushing for a spot. Those horns can reach out and touch you.

When I had cattle, I ran Brangus, naturally polled was one of the main reasons for ease in handling and no dehorning mess. However I do have a 6' leather wrapped"Texas"Longhorn over the mantle.

Here's the one I have been feeding for about 18 years. Can't seem to get any meat on him..lol! Believe me, he knows exactly where the tip of those horns are at all times. He can swat a horse fly off his back with just the tips. He is a pet. Had him since he was a calf. Bob
