Water Hauling with One Horsepower

This one is a follow up to the water hauling photo I posted yesterday showing the "tank" and the power unit. One horsepower. The mosquitos might not have been too bad if it was a dry year.

I probably just missed it, but where were these pictures taken?

Are they from the place you have now?

Keep them coming, thanks!

These were my dad's cousins and the farm was less than a mile from where I am. I don't own that land. But I do have the family photo albums. :)

I was a kid of about 10 years old in the early 1960s. My job was to haul water to our farm from Grandad's, a little less than a mile. I used a tractor, and an old forage wagon, with a 500 gal. tank on it. I'd fill up at Grandad's with a garden hose, then dump it into our cistern at home. Our 18ft. hand dug well had gone dry, was the reason for me hauling. I remember watching JFK's funeral during one day when the tank was unloading. (Wish I had pictures.)

You reminded me of when I hauled water to a large garden I made about 20 years ago in the corner of the woods, a half mile haul, 150 gallons at a time. I got 4 tanks for $1 at an auction. Barn cistern water.
