oil for ford 801 gas

I was reading a forum about changing oil where they used 10 W 30. The mechanic that is helping me said to use 15 W 40. Before I buy the oil I would like to hear from someone from this forum. I am concerned about oil pressure and line to oil pressure guage. I will be looking for your advice.

I have a Jubilee - less displacement and a little older, but basically the same engine. I run 15W40 in it (and all my tractors) year-round. Whatever weight you end up using, you want a diesel-rated oil, since many oils that aren't rated for diesel engines no longer have additives that will protect flat tappet cams and lifters.
What, specifically, are you concerned about? Too much pressure? Won't happen. There's a relief valve built into the oil system.

Most of the older tractors used straight weight oils back in the day. Usually 20 weight in the cold and 30 weight in the warm weather. Oils have greatly improved since then. I use a diesel rated 15W-40 year around in all my tractors, antiques and newer ones alike. Rotella to be specific. Readily available and competitively priced at Walmart.

I would recommend any 15W-40 over any 10W-30 for your tractor. The price will be about the same anyway in any given brand of oil.
