1970's Factory John Deere post digger

Recently picked up a John Deere post digger. It is a No. 3 that was built for about 4 years in the early 70's. My plans were to use it on the farm, but I didn't know Deere ever made/sold one. Before it gets put into service and used/abused at my place, didn't know if it had value as a collector piece. What would it be worth unrestored vs. restored. Just doing some fact finding as I know very little about it.

I agree that is probably the case, but there are parts breakdowns including part numbers on the JD website. Even if it was produced out of house it was sold, serviced, and had parts through Deere.

IIRC yes the JD PHD was outsourced IE built by a short line company. I should know the company that built it for JD but my Oldtimers(some timers) is in control at the moment.
