4020 JD vs allis 180 hydraulic system

I've got a 180 allis that I'm working on for
a customer now. He was wondering what the
differences were in the hydraulic systems?
He is going to be using it on a grain bag
unloader and wondered if he has to change
anything between his 4020 and allis when he
would switch tractors on the bagger?

I know nothing about the machine. I assume hydraulic motor(s)?

4020 vs 180 very different systems, except, they should have the same oil!

180 is a simple gear pump, with open center valves. Will run orbit motors just fine, but the only speed adjustment is the throttle. One spool always has priority over another.

4020 is constant pressure, closed center system. Unlike the AC, it's capable of running multiple things simultaneously. Flow/speed is adjustable.

Seemed like when we ran a hyd. motor with the JD, the oil tended to heat up, whereas the AC didn't.

yes as other post says they probably have different couplers, minor problem. you should have no trouble running something of a continues nature. problems can arise if you need something like a no-til drill which needs down pressure on a demand basis. 4020 has closed center hydr. while 180 is open center and cannot be locked on unless the oil has somewhere to continue flowing. In general the 180 has ,I believe, about same volume and pressure.
