International bd 154 glow plug system

Im re-building a Manitou Forklift which has a International bd 154 diesel engine. The glow plug system and its wiring are rather suspect. Does anyone have a wiring diagram they could post a picture of? Ive also heard the original glow plugs can be replaced by mor modern car version which are 11 or 12 volt and are more reliable. Anyone know anything about them or more specifically what make or part number they use. Any thoughts welcome.

I just posted some photos and info, (along with posts from others), on the IH forum. The original plugs are run in series and run at less then 1 volt. When one blows, none work. Bosch came up with much faster and durable plugs as an update for the Mercedes 190D car. 190D new had the same plugs as your BD154 engine, so the new plugs are a bolt-in swap. New plugs run at 9 volts and get wired in parallel. If you want an indicator, you need a 12 volt indicator bulb.

Outstanding help and detail, I very much appreciated the time you took to do this for me. Im guessing the car plugs are probably less costly than the originals and more reliable. Ill have a look see what ebay says.
