The brake booster on my 08 Ford Edge needs replacing. I was quoted 1,100,00. Seamed a little high. Anyone replaced one of these boosters on a Ford Edge? Another issue There is a bulleton 13N02 saying the booster is covered for 10 years, or 150,000 mi. The dealer says my vehicle isn't covered. Is there a higher authority in the ford organization to contact? to get a second opinion on the repair? Thanks, Stan

Rockauto shows the booster for $90something.

Should be an easy install.

$1100 sounds a lot high unless there is something unusual or difficult about it.

You must be over on mileage? a new booster , pin , & a gasket with a little brake fluid Ford is paying us 143.58 for the parts. Our tech had it
done is less than 2 hours. But this car we did today in a 2011 with 105K.. I must admit it's stupid looking master cyl..

there will be a page in your owner's manual that will tell you how to contact Ford in the event of service problems or issues. You can give it a try but don't count on much from them because they're not real good about doing much of anything. As each of our Fords die they are being replaced with something else because the last Ford I bought new had a leaky rear window, dealer said they were all that way and nothing could be done about it (even though there was a TSB) Dearborn agreed, I told "em the truck would be coming back to them next week and I'll pick up the check for it if it's not fixed. Ford asked how's that and I informed them they were up against a Lemon Law, if it wasn't fixed this time they owned it, it got fixed, about a month later the dealer got a new owner and hired some folks in the service department than can actually read things like TSBs, still don't have anyone in sales that can read things like laws.

08 requires a different booster, even at Ford List of 156. bucks your service's labor rate must be really High.

13n02 states recall 2010 -2013 vehicles . Seems to be issue with several years of these though.
Squeaky wheel gets oiled, keep calling higher up the ladder, may get results .

Sounds to me like they want to take you for a ride. I see no justification for a brake booster being that expensive. I smell a big ripoff.

FYI, One of the dealers that I worked for was about the most dishonest place I ever worked. They were charging (illegal) administrative "fees" for recalls and warranty work. When I asked why they were doing this, I was told that it was for their "kitty." I saw them defraud quite a few customers. I finally was fired for refusing to oversell un-needed work. I made the mistake of calling them out when they robbed an elderly couple that didn't know better. Result was a "whitewash" and getting rid of the "conscience" - ME!

13N02 does not apply to your vehicle! It is for the 2010-2013 Ford Edge! Sounds like you are SOL!

What was this quote for, just a booster and nothing else? Do you have a breakdown on the quote, parts/labor ?

With what dealers charge for labor I would think the quote should be somewhere around half what you stated and that's on the higher end.

I had more important things on my mind - like making a living. So I just got another job.
Dealership owner had too much influence in the community. The local TV station would not likely have gone against him. I did consider reporting this to the higher ups at the manufacturer.
