Moving small grain bin

I have a chance to get a small older grain bin for almost nothing, I just need to move it. Don't know brand or capacity but it is 14' across and maybe 16' tall. It's in really good shape with drying floor, augers, fan, etc. Owner says it's not bolted down, just sitting on concrete pad. Our coop has a special tank moving trailer that we have used before to move liquid tanks roughly the same size. It is a hydraulic lift that stands up against tank , wrap straps around it then lay it down to transport. Is there any reason I couldn't do the same with this grain bin? Anyone done it before? Any advice appreciated!

A fella in my area who moves bins by tipping them puts a couple of boards across the bin in an X pattern a couple feet above the bottom, throws one chain around the bin and tips it. He makes it look easy. When he starts tipping the bin he gets on the back side of the bin with a tall jack and jacks up as the bin is beginning to lift. Once the back side is up a couple of feet he just pulls it over with the trailer rails and away he goes.

We moved one like that, lifted it up and set it up right on a trailer, no fear of it collapsing. Just make sure the road is wide enough and you have enough overhead clearance as well. This will only work if you do not have to move it too far and on back roads. Ben

I"ve moved that size and somewhat larger with a machine trailer. Jack up the bin, back the trailer under, lower, tie down, and go. No bracing needed if most of the rim is on the trailer. Most important- scout your route!- wire clearance, bridge width, etc.
