Hey everyone! I'm trying to help someone figure out exactly what this part is - I'm told its off a "565" NH baler. I would've guessed it looks like a standard pickup tooth, except the proportions are different of course. I dont know anything about square balers, but I said I'd try to help identify it and hopefully find a replacement.

Does anyone know anything about it? Thanks in advance everyone.

It's a hay dog spring. It's located behind the knotters and there are also springs on dogs on the bottom side of the bale chamber.

You can go to the New Holland, (or Messecks,) web sites and look up parts and find it, with an approximate price.

The pins that hold them in place are behind your knotters - chaff tends to collect back there and they have a tendency to rust up. I'd take some compressed air and get it all cleaned out, then soak it good with penetrating oil for a couple days before trying to get it out
