Front End Loader Choice?

1970-1655

A neighbor asked which would be a better loader for his 1650 diesel, Allied 590 or Dunham 22. Both priced similar and condition is both good. We have never had a loader on our Olivers. Last tractor we had with loader was a 454 IH with 2000 loader.

i had buhler allied on my 1650, got along fine with it cause never took it off, if take off alot go with westfield unit.

I've got a Buhler/Allied 595 loader on my 1655. I love it. I take it off in the summer for haying and put it on in the fall for handling logs,(I bought the pallet fork attachment and that works great with logs) and plowing snow in the winter. The 595 is a really heavy-duty rig. When I bought it 8-10 years ago, a brother, and a nephew, on separate occasions made the same comment, "That loader is rugged enough for the 1850."

I've got a farmhand i picked up for 250 bucks . They were built by Schwartz who also built oliver so basically an oliver loader its light but does what i need . Check on Craigslist there might be some good ones out there and some are just rebadged into other mames.

The Allied is a really well made loader. I also really like Westendorf. If choosing between Allied or Dunham, I'd go with Allied.

I've never owned or operated a Dunham. I've got a 590 Allied on my 1755. I use it for feeding hay, loading manure, moving dirt and gravel.....I think the tractor would break...before that loader would.

I have a Farm Hand 22 same as Dunham 22 on a Ford 4000, it's a nice light frame loader that doesn't weigh down the front end and is strong enough to move 5x5 round bales, a friend has one on a 2630 JD.
That said if your planing on doing any digging I think it's a little light for a 1655.
I have a Buhler/Allied 495 on a Ford 6610, it's a good strong loader well suited for digging and heavy loader work, but it has some weight to it that's got me stuck in a muddy feed lot with a 2WD tractor.
