3pt hitch add on update

Good morning,
I had posted a whine ago about adding a 3pt hitch to my old ford 600 that has none. I have since decided to just get all the correct parts to make this happen. I have 2 questions for the group. One, am i to assume that the internal lines are there no matter what to connect to the pump via the manifold connection, and second how do they attach to the internal piston. I have not take the top cover off yet(too cold and snowy) so before i buy all the parts i need ( top cover with valve, piston and arms, pump and manifold) i just wanted to make sure i don't need to check the insides for parts that would make this setup not work. Any feedback would be helpful. TIA

Well I think by the time you buy all the
parts used you may find a parts tractor
a better deal. Pump is 500 used,
manifold 100, top cover with piston 200
to 400, lift arms and links probably
another 200 to 300.
 
Ok, so i'm all set with everybody telling me what I should do, how about a few people to answer the questions i posted.
I have found all the necessary parts I need, and I enjoy working on older equipment so that's not an issue.

Pollockjes4; It won't answer any of your questions but go overto the Case forum and check outposts by CZ. He is adding a 3pt Eagle hitch to an SC case. Now SC Case tractors with the Eagle hitch are not that hard to find, and pretty reasonably priced. But he, like you is doing his own thing and a great job figuring everything out. I can't say definitively what the past owner(s) have done, so
its hard to say what is there. The lines hook from the manifold
through the transmission, up to the top cover via a tube sealed
with an O-ring on top. That's from memory, but I believe correct.
You could pull the blank cover and look for that tube coming up
the right side near the front of the cover.
 

Thanks, are there tubes or is it made into the casting? And if I am correct, the sump should be under the cover, not in the transmission like on the 8n correct?
 
There are tubes, and they are replaceable. Though not cheap.
You are correct, the NAA and up had separate sumps.
Trans, hydraulics and rear end.
Unlike the common 5 gallon sump on the N's.
 
Time to tear apart and start looking. I have a chance to by a complete 600 half restored for cheap, so i want to know what to look for.
 
Tom, not all of us have access to high tech. equipment like CZ has. I would love to have the use of CNC cutters and all the equipment that he has available to him. I wonder what the bill for his fabricated mounts would cost Joe Blow as a walk-in customer???? He has spent big dollars to make that 3pt hitch assy.

This isn't an engineering project though, Tom.
The Ford 620 was the same tractor as the Ford 640.
Minus the PTO and 3pt hitch to save a guy some money when new.
The parts are bolt in replacements.

After trying to find parts for this SC, I'd hang that project up!
Glad its done, but a bear to get parts for compared to a Ford.

For what it's worth, i have pretty good experience building what ever i need. I have all the basic tools, and can figure out most anything. If it doesn't make since to buy all the parts, i already have a plan in place to build the hitch i need. Just looking for information before i tear down what I have. Easier to ask then to find out on your own
 
I totally agree, It certainly wasn't penny wise. But whatever equipment you have, you turn out some very nice projects that I am sure others have advised you to just go buy it rather than build it. But you love the challenge and the fulfilment. I believe thats what CZ and pollockjes4 are into, the challenge and fulfilment. jmo, not worth 2 cents gobble
 
Royce, I just saw similarities in that both CZ and pollockjes4 were given advise to not go the way they were thinking. Very nice looking SC gobble
 
A collector might just pay more for your tractor as it was a very scarce model just to have as a show tractor, enough to buy 2 of them like you want to convert it to.
