old planter monitor hookup

My 4 row JD 7000 planter came with seed tube sensors and a harness with a 31 pin connector. I found and bought an older monitor, a John Deere M2000, but it has a 10 pin connector. Inside the 10 pin connector there is a red and black that are a little heavier, presumably the power in and ground, as well as four different colored smaller wires, probably one for each light. But from the planter harness, there are black, red, and green which are heavier, then four different colored smaller wires as I would expect. Need to know what to do with the green. Not really sure how the sensors and monitor work, and can't find a manual for this model on line.

Your going to need wiring diagrams and/or schematics for both the monitor and sensors. Sounds like your sensors are for a different monitor and good possibility they won't be compatible with the monitor you purchased. I know electronics but not familiar with the JD monitor and would need a schematic to be able to really help.

Would guess it's some sort of photo cell sensor, can you post a photo of a sensor and any parts in the seed shoot that has wires going to it, maybe we can figure out how it works.

This is simply a guess, but the green may for a speed sensor signal. If your monitor is not capable of population, I would just ignore the green and give it a try.

There are companies that will make adapters for that monitor and the harness you have. I looked into it. Seemed smarter to buy the right monitor for the harness I had...or buy a new harness. I bought a different monitor. Still did not work even though it plugs in to the harness. So I am still trying to figure this out. I'm sending mine out to a friend. Have it packed, just haven't had time to take it to the PO./
