Favorite lunchbox sandwich

An occasional favorite of mine is:
2 slices whole wheat toast
1 slice of thick-sliced Bologna
1 slice of cheese
1 slice of a vidalia white onion
Miracle whip and mustard
If onion isn't available, substitute seedless olives.
Washed down with Pepsi or sweet tea.

Seasoned thinner cuts of grilled chicken breast on a roll with roasted red peppers, or in the summer fresh romaine lettuce/tomato - no mayo or any of that. Grill up a bunch, there's lunch for a few days. I'll make up another favorite dish so as to alternate or have as a side. If its something I like, will have a few days in a row, then change it up.

Atlantic Salmon from the gulf of Maine - left overs, always good on a roll, you could make a tuna-fish like salad with it, but I don't like mayo so much, its the oil but a tiny bit is fine, add some Wickles relish, diced onion, fresh romaine - not bad at all.

Can't beat a beefstake tomato sandwich and you have to have some mayo (veneer coating) on that with a abundant coating of oregano. Keep the thick tomato slices separate from the bread in your cooler and make fresh before you eat. Add some bacon and fresh romaine! Takes 2 of these to satisfy though.

My wife read that health officials suspect processed meats of causing pancreatic cancer. Wife won't even let me have bacon or a hot dog anymore, let alone bologna.

However, she is making more meatloaf now so that's a good trade-off.

Lot I like. When I cook Italian sausage patties on the grill I always make a few extra to take to work. Patty on a fresh Hoagy roll with cheddar cheese, hidden valley ranch(only ranch I care for), thick slice of sweet onion and home made chili relish. Only have it once a month or so but it is my favorite !

My favorite isn't technically a sandwich -- Flour Tortilla, some cream cheese (chive & onion is good), a slice of swiss cheese, lunch meat plus a pickle slice or some olives and maybe lettuce and, or tomato. Roll it up and enjoy.

My favorite is a rare occasion so thick almost falls apart lobster sandwich. We live near fishing waters and usually during the fall lobster fishing season we'll get 10-15 lbs and sometimes take them in sandwiches to the field while chopping corn.

Plain white bread outa the bread machine, slice or two of bologna, slathered with miracle whip. If I feel ambitious I will slice some green olives and push into the miracle whip. Seems to taste better if left in a lunch sack till I am hungry and it is room temp. If I get tired of bologna I fry it first....

Wheat bread,Helmans mayo on both slices, and a whole pack of Buddig turkey.Maybe spinach leaves on it.Pringles, and RC or sweet tea.Mark

Used to eat a lot of peanut butter and salad dressing, wash it down with a bottle of Coke, quit drinking Coke a long time ago, not so much on the salad dressing any more, still eat peanut butter sand. once in a while.

Egg salad on whole wheat- mix with mayo and mustard, put raw onions and chopped pickled jalapenos in to give it some flavor. Also like to splash on a little Tiger Sauce or Sriracha sauce sometimes, for a change of pace.

Favorite sandwich or something I would take for lunch?

Favorite sandwich would be
White bread
Fried shrimp
Blue plate mayo
Ketchup
Dash of hot sauce

Most likely to be in my lunch box would be
White bread
Ham
American Cheese
Blue plate mayo
Slice of tomato
Dill pickle

Both washed down with a coke.

I know this goes off just a little. If you ever get to SJ and the Atlantic City area you have got to stop at White House Subs. Great stars above they make an outstanding hoagie, sub, grinder, whatever. First time you almost cry they are so good. Was in there one time and a guy walked out with 3 1/2 shopping bags of hoagies. Was close to $300.oo worth for the super bowl party. I like PBJ, Also like tosted bread with ham, cheese, lettuce, mayo, ketchup, and a dab of butter. Flavored riot.

White bread, creamy peanut butter, Miracle Whip, home-made grape jelly, one slice of bologna.

Find myself ordering more and more burgers on tortillas, no bun. Will make sandwiches on them at home now, too.

Peanut butter and Iceburg lettuce on really fresh wheat or white bread.

Or egg salad sandwich... but then I need a cup of tomato soup for dipping it in.

harvest time will fix a ham in the oven, take two sandwiches a day....home made white bread, 1/2'' thick ham onion baby swiss, lettace and mustard, heated up on exhust pipe of the combine..leave the house about 6:00 am eat one samdwich at noon the other at 6 pm get home at around 10:00pm

White Italian bread, krakus polish ham, extra sharp cheddar cheese cotto salami with slice of tomato and a slice of sweet onion and sprinkle some olive oil.

Guess I am the only one on the wild side?? Black bear roast leftovers with buttered wheat bread and horsradish--for me it don't get any better!!

After reading all the responses let me relate a true lunch box sandwich story. I worked at the largest hydro plant (size/generation) on the Tn. River at Wilson Dam in the late 70's where raw water from the forebay was used to provide cooling water for the generators. Water was drawn in and passed through raw water strainers before use. Each spring would begin the shad minnow run and literally 1000,s would be drawn into the strainers where they were trapped and mashed into a huge clumpy mass. One day just before lunch we received a low cooling water alarm which required cleaning the stainer, a smelly and unpleasant task. After finishing I sat down and opened up my lunch box to a tuna fish salad sandwich. Needless to say I had no appetite for it.

At least once a month I treat my self to a Bologna/peanut butter sandwich. I add mustard and ketchup and one pickle slice. I take a small fruit cup along with that.

That sounds delicious. I'm going to try that.

That would be hard to beat. I don't care for olives but your style would suit me fine. If I were to change it, I would add long sliced dill pickles and a fresh sliced 'mater when they are in season. Sometimes if the weather is too hot I'll use mustard instead of mayo and wash it down with sweet tea or grape gatorade

Whole wheat, preferably whole grain. Toasted.
Fresh braunschweiger
Egyptian onion(hard to find in US)
sharp cheddar, or other strong cheese
plenty of mustard
aged tomatoes, usual globe
iceberg lettuce
ground black pepper
couple of the large Fritos.

Onion bagel
Fresh scandanavian Lox
Sweet onion
light mayo
Beefsteak tomato
pickled capers
grated Parmesan
lite olive oil and vinegar

I have a small wood stove heater in my deer stand which just sets on the ground. (I am disabled & can't climb a ladder or steps) I make ham & cheese sandwiches with butter & wrap them in tin foil. Heat them on the stove & the butter melts, cheese is soft & the bread is toasted. A jar of pickles & it can't get any better!

Double decker with bacon, lettuce, and tomato with mayo on whole wheat bread for the first layer and turkey and mayo for the second separated by a piece of toasted whole wheat bread.

When I make a sandwich, there is no need to "wash it down!" But I do like a nice cold glass of iced tea - unsweetened.

Fresh caught fish, pan fried with Gary Roach or Shore Lunch coating, slice of sharp cheddar or american cheese , a little salt, hearty whole wheat bread. Hard to beat.

Sliced Vidalia onion, cucumber sliced longways, and cabbage on toasted rye or whole wheat with mayo. Tater chips and Coke or iced tea go right good with it too.

Bacon and an egg fried hard on my wife's homemade bread with a big slice of onion and lots of Miracle whip on the bread.

A slice of meatloaf or a big bread size sliced tomato would be close seconds.

Dang.... Now I'm hungry. :(
