little Massy Ferguson

This is my little Massy
that I bought for $50.
It didn't have an
engine and the mower
gear box shaft was
very worn on the
coupler end. I welded
up the end and turned
it down. I put in the
Wisconsin engine in
and used it for 10
years. Then I had to
put in new bearings in
the mower. Finally the
Wisconsin engine got
difficult to start so I
put in the 6.5 Honda
clone from Harbour
Freight. I wanted to
put in 13 HP engine
but I already had this
one and it works
purtty good. I can
mow a one acre lot on
a half tank of gas. It is
kind of amazing. Of
course in really tall
weeds I have to drop
to first gear and clutch
it ahead a little at a
time. I see that you
can now buy little
diesel engines. I would
like to do that
someday.

That's a Massey Ferguson Executive which was made in the early 60's by the Dura Corporation. I have one which has a Kohler 7 hp on it which I believe to be the original engine. Kind of a rare little mower.

Thanks for letting me know what the original engine was. I do have a kohler engine. It still runs but needs a carb. What kind of shape is yours in? I have never seen another one.

Mine looks about like yours as far as paint condition. I haven't started it in a few years, so am sure the tank and carb would need work. I have the mower deck with mine too, and have the same lug type tires on the back. I have had mine for at 30 years. There is a Massey Ferguson Yahoo group site which has some members who are much more familiar with them than I am. Hopefully I have attached the link.
