Cab kit install pointers

I bought a 2-105 White tractor back in the summer. Purchased a cab kit from an Agco/White dealer. Any pointers on installing it? It is pre cut and has adhesive with it. Instr. say wait till temp. Is 50 degrees which may be a few weeks.

Clean is the most important for making them stick. Make sure all the old is off and wash it thoroughly. Then wipe it down with some type of paint thinner to make sure all the oil and grease is off. When its dry it's ready. Prefit each piece to make sure it is correct and to see where you will have difficulties with fitting so your prepared when the glue is applied. Start at the top and work down usually.

set each piece in dry to make sure how it will fit. i put a kit in my 5288. instructions said to spray adhesive on the foam backside and cab where the foam goes, let it get tacky, and apply so you could slide foam before it set up. riiiiiight. once it hits, you won't move it.

Clean and curing temp. Don't get all excited the first day it hits 50 at 3 pm. The tractor metal needs to stay warm until that adhesive cures. Don't be chintzy with that 3m spray cement, either. It will take it longer to be ready to put in with a thicker coat, but a light layer will only cause the side panel to fall off when the hay rake hits its first chuck hole. Mask the rubber. That stuff is devilish to get off.

kccca, great topic. I am reading with interest. Not to steal your thread but maybe add to it, so far the comments talk about the gluing and placement process. I have never done this before but expect to. How are the edges treated? Is there always a piece trim for the edges or is there some other process?

I will also hop out to YouTube and see what I can find.

Thanks.

This what I do to a carburetor: When I buy a rebuilt kit I will see if I have any Carburetor cleaning solvent. What it is a large can with a metal screen tray in it. This stuff is to clean and soak your carburetors in it. You take the old carburetor apart make sure all the rubber is taken out, gaskets off but you do not have to take the better fly out leave it on. Put the parts on the screen encoding the body parts of the carb. Then put them in to the carb. cleaner solvent let then set for about 1 1/2 Hour then pull them out. Get you air compressor running and use compress air. spraying it threw those gas ports wholes and the other big parts. All small parts like screws, Jets use a good clean rag wipe them dry. Put all the stuff on a clean work table and get your kit them start assembling. This what I do for the holly carb. for my cars and yes some times for my tractors if they are really bad and dirty. There are those times when Yes a light clean will do the trick but use your judgement on the carburetor on how it looks. Good Luck.

kccca, I went over to YouTube, lots of cab installation videos. Just search tractor cab installation kit at YouTube. Paul

I usually don't reply to my own topic, but I did take a closer look at the inside of the cab today and it seems pretty straight forward after reading all of the responses on here. The old material has already been taken off and previous owner has glued carpet in place of the vinyl / foam. Recessed areas are already cleaned out and hopefully the hardest part will be to remove the old carpet material, clean it real good, and get two extra hands!
Sounds like a good April job.

Clean it well. I use a bristle disc on my die grinder to get it all off and then clean with mineral spirits. Fit the pieces before you glue them. I don't not like using the spray adhesive,I use glue made for armor flex insulation and brush it on.
