Way OT - Prescription Meds Overseas

Anyone know anything about obtaining prescription meds overseas, such as in Canada (for a U.S. citizen)?

TIA,

Neil

Some of them will spam you to death if you contact them. I did use one in Canada years ago that went well. I wish I could remember which one. I would use them again.

Before insurance, we bought from Canada, but it has been too many years to remember the one we used.

Thanks, guys. Here's a more specific question: do the online Canadian pharmacies honor prescriptions from U.S. doctors? I assume so, based on the responses. Also, I gather they'll ship to a U.S. address?

PharmawebCanada. To We have been getting meds here. So far works fine. You will need doc to write prescription. Reason is you need to give them a copy of the prescription. Wife needs asthma med and Blue Cross refused to pay for it. Only allowed payment on a replacement guess they would rather pay for hospital rather than a med to keep her well. Her doc was happy to do this as would rather have some one able to use the meds and afford them. We were skeptical at first but so far has been a good experience. there are others we did have Canada drugs.com but it was still cheaper here and the meds work.

I don't know what's going on right now, but a few years ago, my brother got prescription medicines from Canada for 10% of what they cost in the United States. He had to make a one-time travel to Canada, meet with a Canadian doctor, and obtain a prescription for his illness. Brother lives in Northern Ohio, so the trip to Canada was not a big deal, like it would be to some of us. Local politician arranged bus transportation for the Canadian trip.

Buying drugs from foreign sources is technically illegal. Many of the "Canadian" pharmacies only have a Canadian website. If you look at the bottom of the "Frequently Asked Questions" page on the PrarmaWebCanada website, you see the following statement.

PharmaWebCanada.to is a prescription marketing broker, negotiating the best prices for its clientele. All prescriptions are dispensed by:

Licensed pharmacies and pharmacists located in Canada, Italy, the UK, New Zealand, India, Switzerland, South Africa, Israel, and Fiji.

Yup. My parents get some mess from Canada. They haven't been north of the border in 10 years, at least.

(quoted from post at 08:49:19 02/03/17) Unless you are a U.S. citizen ,living in Hawaii , Canada is not over seas . Foreign country maybe . Made me smile.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Lake Ontario really is one of "The Great Inland Seas"!!!

(quoted from post at 09:43:51 02/03/17) I think the place I was using you could order morphine without a prescription. I just never tried anything else.

Gee, I don't see any possible problem with that......

I currently buy meds from Canada. I save several hundred dollars a month. I send them my prescription and a check and three weeks later I get the pills. They have a Canadian doctor call my doctor to assure the scrip is authentic then he prescribes. It comes out less than the VA was charging Just google Canadian Pharmacies and many will come up. No problems for the last few years

My wife is getting some from Canada. The US price is $10.00 a pill,Canada price is $1.00 per pill and works as the US pill.

I had been getting mine at Wally and price has been from 40$ to 60$. This last time was 98$,i told them to keep em and they did. I have and will go back to Canada.

My wife and I both use one. Just send a prescription as an email attachment ( I scan ours into our computer), authorize a echeck for the amount and wait a couple of weeks.

Some meds are available as brand names, some as generic, some both. IME the brand names are made by the USA company, but in another country. Like one of mine, made by Lilly in Turkey, order processed on an island East of Madagascar, mailed from Switzerland! Some brands with no USA available generics do have generics in other countries.

I've used some of those with good results.

In other cases, the meds were made in the US, shipped to Canada and reshipped to me!

There is a lot of money to be saved if you take the time to search out a reputable supplier.

First thing you do is pull up the law governing medications for US citizens residing in the USA purchased from outside our borders. In there you will find that the law applies to medications "Made in the USA" and shipped outside the USA that are sold to a residing resident and brought back/shipped back into the country.

Sun Pharm. Co. is one of the largest pharm cos in the world (as I read), and are just one of the quality drug suppliers available to us. They have FDA inspected sources in places like India for one that manufacture most of the world's generic meds (as I read). Prescriptions are required and sent to the supplier with the order. Shipments come through the normal US Customs officers.

Anybody remember the news article about a Vermont (as I recall) US Senator that took a bus load of US citizens across the border into Canada on a prescription filling expedition just to prove my point mentioned above? It was several years ago, not part of this election cycle.

I use my local pharmacy for all my medications except for the ones NOT sold in the US.....generic alternatives to certain name brand "gotta have" medications.

I can't speak for all the companies available on the www but the two I have used are very professional. My GP doctor is fully aware of, and complies with the laws governing US medicine, and writes prescriptions wherever they are needed, domestic and foreign.

like most everything, disinformation is rampart and considering the sources, understandable.

This is really my private business, but I for one am tired of being lied to and this is one way of setting the record straight.....since you asked.

Thanks, guys. All very helpful! And, yes, I suppose Canada is not actually "overseas" for us mainlander U.S. citizens:)

May as well try the local guy down on the street corner ?

Were able to get animal drugs from amazon but that may be shut down now too ?

Used Canadians for couple years now. Same meds usually much cheaper. However you must ask about how many doses each scrip contains. We get one that US purchase is 90 pills, Canadian is 84. One creme tube from US is 30 GMs and Canadian is 14 GMS. and priced to be same dosage. All in All much cheaper just got to ask lots of questions to compare prices.

My doctor faxes prescriptions to the company. When a prescription needs refiling, they fax back to her for refills. It's a legitimate high dollar business. Like I said, lots of disinformation out there for obvious reasons.

If you pay by credit card, it's easier if the company has a US location. My bank has to have special approval to cash an overseas credit charge, whereas a NYC address is fine even though the company may be of Canadian origin and medications are manufactured in NE India. There is a pharmacy checker site that rates pharmacies outside the US proper. If in doubt look them up. My current supplier is rated by them, inspected by the US Food and Drug Administration, and supplies reputable products. On the legality of this process, why would the FDA regulate these pharmacies for US consumer products if all this stuff was illegal???????????

I use CanadaDrugs.com for one high priced drug for my wife. About a third of the U.S. price.

They email me when it is time for a refill.

Been using them off and on for 15 years.
