Trying to Remember a Commercial

I'm guessing 10 - 15 tears ago, there was a commercial, I think for motor oil, or it could have been for a car, where the company used some classic rock songs in their commercials. Does anybody remember any of these? I heard the end of one of the songs used in those commercials last night and for the life of me I cant remember the song.

No that's not it. Its more upbeat than that. I swear it was a Castrol commercial, or some oil company commercial, but for some reason I am also thinking a Dodge commercial. Ive searched for a couple of hours and cant find it.

I was told that "Classic Rock" is when all the musicians in the band played the same song at the same time - but then it's hard to tell either way.

Was it for Castrol Edge, in 2009? It used 'In-a-gadda da vida" by Iron Butterfly.

Naw, that's not it either. I'm thinking the song was from the mid to late 70s. I had originally thought it was The Cars - Moving In Stereo, but I found that, and its not the commercial I was thinking it was in, so I don't think that's the song either. I only caught the last 20 or so seconds of the song, and it was fading out as I got it. Seems though, it was a very long song if my memory is working, and no its not Freebird.

Cant't help ya John, and the memory won't get any better. For a year or more GMC has been playing The Who's Eminence Front in their commercials. Lots of Who songs have been used in commercials and tv show themes over the last dozen years.

Hey Jim!

Yeah, that was one of the first songs I thought about it could be, but I couldn't find any reference to it being in anything other than the GMC commercials. In all honestly, I couldn't really hear it that good because the wife was gabbing with my mother in law on the phone. But I did recognize the song. For some reason this morning after church I started thinking about it, and have had the earworm pretty much all day. My oldest boy said he would be glad when it got to be time for him to go to work today, as he was getting tired of listening to me whine about it!!

I go to YouTube when i'm looking for something like that. Put in a few keywords, see what turns up. Just about everything is on youtube.
