The Russians are at it again

My wife went to town, I was working around the house. She called, I missed the phone, so called her cell back, some fellow answers, sorry wrong number. I try again, same fellow answers, after several tries to the same fellow we figure out I am dialing the correct number but connecting to someone on the opposite coast at a number not even close to the same one I am dialing. Seems kinda weird, how could this happen?

Couldn't be the Russians. They don't do such things. They're our friends. I'd sooner believe it's sun spots.

Maybe that is my trouble. We had a semi leave the road and do damage here at home and adjoining property yesterday. The Sheriff dept. gave me a phone # for trucking co., I called it and no one there has or drives a truck?? I called Sheriff again I guess some body lied to them, said they would try to get it straightened and call me back.

Sounds like someone may have gotten her phone SSID and cloned it.

I had a lady call me the other day, asked for me by name, said I was on her missed call list and was returning my call.

I hadn't called anyone that day. Can't butt dial a flip phone.

I asked her name, it didn't sound familiar. Nor did she recognize my name, but for my number to show up with a name, wouldn't I have had to be in her address book?

By now I'm thinking this is a well crafted sales call, but as the conversation went on, we were equally stumped as to how it happened!

Lol, it wasn't the russains, we were assured in 20 12 that they were not any sort of a threat. Even now we are told the same thing. I've never had the experience you had with the phone, must be the carrier has a glitch in their system.

Anybody out there remember "The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming"? I'd love to watch that again, but I think the Russians hacked that out of the system also.

It is telemarketers spoofing a number. I get them all the time from these vermin and I know that the owner of the phone number did not call me. I have even gotten several calls with my own number and name showing up on the ID. I don't answer when I call myself though. TDF

I'm surprised someone doesn't defend these telemarketers unsolicited calls at all hours as just some poor honest business man trying to make an honest living in the free enterprise system. And you call these upstanding citizens...vermin...how dare you! Pun intended. How many of you would support a law (regulation) to make such unsolicited telephone actions illegal....assuming it could be enforced?

We have speed limits....sometimes enforced....sometimes not...but we keep those laws (regulations).

"it's under the big dubba ya!"

James Earl Jones had a birthday yesterday and the reference was made about Star Wars. First thing I thought of was Dr. Strangelove.

A great movie! I saw it listed in a catalog a while back, maybe look on line, or even you tube.

Have you been listening to our outgoing who thinks all you have to do is talk to the bad guys and they will turn into good guys?

Exact same thing happened the other day to me Steve. My flip phone rang. Hands were dripping greasy. Got cleaned up and answered, and some guy sez he was returning my call. I asked his name, and he stuttered - obviously didn't want to tell me his name - so I told him mine, and then he told me his. I'd never heard of him, so I apologized for what I thought was a misdial, and he was happy. As I went back to work, I realized that I hadn't had my phone out since I'd put my jeans on that morning. This guy wasn't a Ruskie - I could understand him real good, ha.

Ever notice? The probability of your cell phone ringing is proportional to the greasiness of your hands.

One day when someone called me from my own number I picked it up and started screaming at whoever it was before they said anything. They hung up and haven't called back. It was fun.
