Some thing found with question (what is it)

I had bought some land and couple days ago I had gone out there and walked it. What I had found kind a threw me with a question (what is it). It appeared to be home made and it looks like some body had 55 Gallons steel drums that they had cut and welded together. They had ran pipe in it and it is there on my property so my question lies what can I do with it? Any ideals may I ask.

I'd need to know more. How are the pipe/s in it? Could it be some sort of heat collector? Looks like desert. I mean I assume it's not just simple a pipe attached to the bottom--a make-shift tank.

Wasn't that in Joe Dirt? When he took the plug out of the end,it was a sewage tank from an RV. lol

Looks like the three pipes sticking out the bottom act as support for the whole thing to stand upright. Big pipe lets out whatever was stored--I'm guessing water? At the top I would imagine there'd be some kind of water inlet as well.

Since it is in the desert, probably a container of radioactive isotopes that fell off the truck....

An old man that I worked for in the late '60's made a septic tank out of 3 barrels like that . I helped him bury it in the desert sand at his shop in Pinion Hills, Ca.

When i was little i fell through an old abandoned hand stoned well on our farm. Nobody knew it was there, it was covered with timbers and the grass grew over it. Timbers rotted away. My brother was wiith me and saw me break thru. I was prolly 5 or 6. Dad wasnt home so mom called the neighbors for help.. They came down with an h with a loader and a hay rope. Neihbor tied his ankles off and dropped head first down the well to get me. I fell about 25 ft down. Thank god there was no water in the well. If you mess. Around there, tie yourself off and use a tile probe to see if there is a void. Have somebody with you.

I'm with traditional farmer. What you have there is a big batch meth cooker. No place better with all the fumes that out in the desert. Honestly I'm going with water storage. Watch out for a well as others have said,

Can you tell if any of the pipes make a loop inside, if so heat exchanger. Maybe a still from long ago. How many acres do you have and where are you. Looks like you won't have any close neighbors and I like the mountains in the background.

My guess is a support for a sign to advertise the property for sale. Best of luck on the property. It takes a strong will to make desert property work, but it can be done. Jim

Now that's thinking outside the box. LOL

My first thought was also water storage... looks like it used to stand on three legs.

It would be good to get more pictures and info. It is a clue to something that was going on there before.

It is amazing how steep the Sierras are on the east side.

Reminds me of when I was a kid my dad took us up a road east of Bishop. We hiked up to the pass and there Was a lot of old mining equpt.
We got short of breath, it was over 10000 ft elevation.

Not to be on topic, but what the heck could you grow out there? Looks like desert to me....

That was my thought too water storage at first with the 3 legs and the bigger pipe coming out the bottom. But then it makes me think what was in there originally and would it be safe for water storage.

Makes me wonder what people will say when they find some of the stuff I've made over the years. LOL

I don't think you have to worry about floods. Maybe earthquakes. Been buying the Shepherds bread in Bishop?

Seriously I'd say the whole set up goes in a shallow well legs down to hold it off the bottom and it'll fill up to water level thru the small pipe on the bottom and then put a pipe in the top to pump the water out have seen similar set ups used at springs.Put a screen on the downside to keep things out.
