Truck saga continues!

So day before yesterday I had the fuel line issue, but the dealer got that fixed about 3pm yesterday. But they did hit me with one more slap before I left, they somehow managed to cut power to the satilite system in the truck, so no electronic log and no way to comunicate with Dart. I wasn't going to sit there and wait anymore, so I left and am just using paper logs and comunicating by phone which is a pain but doable. After 5 or 6 years on electronic logs this whole paper log thing is a real pain! There is so much to remember! Lol. On top of that the gov of Georgia just said that chains are required in Atlanta, so weather is going to be a joy for a few days.

On top of that, Dart just called to tell me they made a mistake and the truck I was going to Atlanta to get isn't available, so I have to get back to Dallas for my second choice truck which is basically the same truck with a few less miles but in black. I would prefer blue, but color is not a big deal for me and this one has 10k less miles.

So anyway, my soap opera life continues! I can't wait to see what happens next.lol Maybe some day I'll be able to play with my tractors again.

John I knew you were in limbo of trading but have not kept up . Is the truck you are getting also dead axel tandem or are you going back to full tandem?

Time for me to ask a question that an old boy in eastern Kentucky asked me one time. He said "Why don't you just buy yourself 40 acres and learn how to fish?".

And my guess is: through all of this you have zero income and all the expense. Ordeals like this reminds me why I don't want to own another one. Just put up with the company bs and constipated trucks.

JonF, Just a little note to thank you for all the things you add to this forum, it would not be the same without you. Always enjoy your posts.

Just remember the old saying. "If it don't kill you it will make you stronger." Just hang in there brighter days ahead.

Hang in there Jon, I hope it all works out for you. Gonna play with my tractor in a few.Brrrrr

We have a Volvo end loader at our ashalt Plant in columbus Ohio it is two years old now.if it makes it two weeks before something goes wrong with the def regen system we are lucky.but I hear from our main equipment Guy that it is a problem with all makes and models of equipment right now.I just have never seen a loader with so many problems in my forty years of working

It's bitter cold back here, so you aren't missing much but peace and quiet.

Been following your saga, don't have anything to add but it does make my days seem less stressful reading about yours.

Bought a black new semi once, one of the biggest mistakes ever.Besides the small fortune you spend trying to keep it clean,it will roast you if you run the southwest, makes your ac work overtime.Couldn't go to vegas in the summer,it was just too much.If your sleeping in the truck, when the sun comes up,you get up,doesn't take long to get warm in there.Look good when they're clean, but that's it.

My 2010 has 244,000. miles on it(one hundred mile radius route truck)and I just had the second exhaust filter installed.

Jon, I think that monkey you have on your back is turning into a gorilla. I still think you should have let that dog burn with that line off.

A girl that I went to school with had a saying - "Cheer up, things could get worse. So I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse."

Six year old truck with only 244 000 miles it's just getting broke in. Heck I used to put that many miles on it two years.

Certainly will be more sellable when you get ready to get rid of it. Just hard to sell thoe like you have.

Or as Rodney Dangerfield said, "This gal I knew said, 'come over, nobodies home'. So I went over- and there was nobody home."

Chains in Atlanta, now that's a new one, I've been through Atlanta on ice and had my chains with me but didn't put them on.
Looks like a demo derby event when roads get slick in the south.

Never used electronic logs, I sold my last truck and retired in 08 after 30 years, miss the camaraderie but not the traffic, never had satellite communications, got my first cell phone in 94, it was mounted in the truck with a cord connected the a hand set like a house phone.
Cost me $30 a month for 45 minutes of local calls only, outside my area was a $3 connection fee for each area I called or received a call from plus $.90 to $1.20 a minute.
Dispatch was the only one to have my number so if the phone rang I knew who it was but wouldn't answer, I'd stop at the next truck stop or rest area can call their 800 number on a land line. Told my family if they needed to get in touch with me to call dispatch.
My Galaxie 33 and Gray 300 watt bilinear was my main communications device.

Times sure have changed
