Just saw on MSM.com that four 18 year olds were arrested in Chicago for beating and torturing another 18 year old on Facebook Live. Gotta love social media.
 
You also forgot to mention the victim was a differrent color than the alleged perps. Maybe a hate crime?

My 14-year old girls spend every spare minute poking at their iPhones texting friends that they'll see the next day ... THAT makes me sick. What a bunch of nonsense.
 
Hate crime? If the victim were the same color then it's not a crime? I guess it's just the logical extension of a car full of kids rolling up on some sleeping homeless person and beating him on video. Now it's live.
 
I saw that too. Now page 2, the boy that was getting beaten was special needs. I think this is a good example of how cruel kids can be and an example of bullying at it worst. Bullying is out of control.

Social media is a good example of how narcissistic people are posting videos of their stupidity on line. Good think cops can use the videos as evidence, for now. Just wait I'm sure the ACLU may weigh in on that someday.
 
It's usually girls that do things like that. Maybe those four were a little light in the loafers.
 
You are right, but bullying on social media has taken it to a totally different level. Now you hear of kids committing suicide because of bullying on social media. Can't recall any kid doing that before social media, can you?

It probably happened,we just didn't hear about it because there wasn't any social media.
 
Over 20 years ago there was girls in this area the kidnapped a girl around there age and raped and torched her before setting her on fire.
 
Heck a mother died while on face book live while over a hundred friends watched and heard her child cry and she took her last breath, no one called 911
 
In addition to doing the act they basically reported themselves to the cops. The whole thing is making stupid sink to a new low.
 
Some more details - - the perpetrators were all 18 year olds. Two black men and two black women. The victim was a mentally challenged, white, 18 year old man. The perps knew the victim and lured him into their lair where they beat and tortured him for a day or more. The perps filmed it and posted it on social media. The victim was taken to the hospital and was patched up physically, but who knows how much mental damage has been done.

The perps have been arrested and have been charged with hate crimes.

Do you think we'll ever hear about the outcomes of their trials? I doubt it.

If the colors were reversed I bet the whole town would be up in riots.

I also feel EVERY crime is a hate crime. I think it is silly they had to make up the category. If someone liked you they would not harm or steal from you.
 
Sucides caused by social media makes national news. Teen sucide on the other hand may not even mentioned in news, parents keep a lid on it.
 
Read in the paper just this morning that Chicago had 762 murders last year ...... that's a scary number. A friend of mine who travels globally told me if I go anywhere, I have to make sure that Chicago is near the top of my list. Hmmmm, not sure about that !!!
 
Not sure what you mean "gotta love social media"- it's not the media's fault, it's a good thing since they caught themselves. Have they ever had JOBS? How do they afford phones?
 
Chicago is the only place that I have ever been where there was 10 foot chain link fence, razor wire, and armed guards.....at a Walmart......
 
That's what I'm saying. Suicide caused by social media makes the news because it gets posted on social media. Before there was social media,it didn't get out there.
 
yes, but Chicago is a huge place. I go there twice a year. There are parts south of the city that aren't even remotely safe for anyone. Restaurants that only do carry out and have bullet proof carousels to take money and distribute the food. Other parts are not so bad. I would never say "safe", not even in the high end areas up by Michigan avenue and the river. Frankly, I am surprised the number is so low.

Have you ever been to Brooklyn, NY? Flatbush Avenue is a main thoroughfare that runs from the Brooklyn bridge up through the city. I did a project there about 10 years ago, and at that time, it looked like a war zone. Chainlink fences and razor wire around all of the businesses. The "taggers" had painted their trash everywhere. Honestly. Some of the paint was 15 or 20 feet up the buildings. The thugs must have carried extension ladders with them to get up that high.

I finished that project and swore that I would never go back there again. I haven't. And I won't. American cities are hell-holes.

his should be a hard situation to get out of. Four black kids kidnapped, beat, tortured and loaded a white mentally challenged white kid into a stolen van kept him over night and called his parents asking for a $300.00 ransom. Not much money but ask for but a dollar or a million doesn't matter its still a ransom. The blurry video on the news shows one of the four with a knife. All this as they were using racial slurs and others slurs as I understand connected to his mental disability. The knife is a deadly weapon by all standards so attempted murder would not be a stretch. I can not think that this should be less than a life sentence for the four of them. That may seem harsh, I would think that this could be a death penalty case considering the double hate crime with a deadly weapon but the liberals would have a fit. In many cases in the past whites have done things just as bad or worse and now we have this hate crime thing to cling to as well. This needs to be pursued as the terrible crime that it is and they should suffer the consequences. By the way I think charging some one with a hate crime is a joke and very hard to prove. How do you prove what they were thinking unless they tell you. How many will tell you the truth? These kids have been raised in a society where they are never at fault for what they have done its always some one else's fault. The authorities statement so far was this was just some stupid kids doing stupid things. I think that the kids are not the only stupid ones.

Bedford-Stuyvesant is as bad as it gets in Brooklyn. I was on a new 7 story nursing home there in '96. One person got out of a car with a big ole revolver and started shooting, but missed his target as he disappeared in the Brevoort Houses (projects) across the street. This was between Atlantic avenue, and the cross streets of Rochester and Buffalo. The E.I.F.S. panels we were cladding this building with, had one one elevation with steel plating built into them on the lower elevations to deflect bullets. Our work had bullet holes in it after some weekends. Crazy place, though downtown Brooklyn is nice, I'll take the country any day over any of it. Spent 15 years working in the 5 boroughs.
 
They just said on the news that they will be charged with a hate crime. I didn't think you could do that since they are a minority and thus don't have any power. We'll see.
 
I was listening to the news out of Chicago live today. Up until about 2:00 PM, the Chicago PD Superintendent, Johnson was saying that it wasn't a hate crime, just four "kids" acting stupidly. At about 3:00 PM, they changed their tune. My guess with what the offenders were witnessed doing and saying in the video, it became too hard to convince those of us that had seen and heard the video that our lying ears and eyes were lying to us. Give it a day, two tops, this incident will vanish and never be mentioned ever again. Had it been the other way around, top of the news for the next six months, our president all over TV about it, and I think most get it.

Hate crimes are easy to prove if you have either witnesses or video of the perps using racial slurs while in commission of that crime. According to the report they not only did that but also made reference to the victims handicap status.

Ok, where are the hundred or so young black people who are unemployed carrying signs in outrage? Where is Jessie Jackson? Al Sharpton? Do you think there will be looting and civil unrest in other major cities tonight? Doesn't white lives matter? Funny how the worse city for murder is the home of Mr gun control? Time for everyone to carry. Most of those fools in the city with hand guns don't even know how to hold them correctly.
 
Ever notice how the places with the strictest gun laws are also the places with the highest rates of gun crime??

Maybe they should be handing out guns and ammunition instead of food stamps. Then all the cops would have to do is pick up the last few standing. I have NO sympathy for criminals killing each other.
 
This incident is a far cry from what you reference, he may have hurt a few snowflakes and pajama boys feelings but the Man still won big, enjoy the next 8 years, you might learn something.

Or if that 1923 event is ancient history to you, consider the case of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_James_Byrd_Jr.">James Byrd</a>, who in 1998 was chained to the back of a pickup truck and dragged to death by three fun-loving good ole boys. Again, because of the color of his skin.

Professional apologists such as yourself are the real reason no true progress is ever made in so called race relations. The hard cold truth is that the incident cited in this post and the two cases that you mention all have two distinct charateristics in common, all three incidents involve truly despicable and evil perpetrators who act out there twisted delusions on innocent victims, it matters not what color any of them are or were.
 
How could such a thing happen in such a nice place as Chicago? They have a nice abundant mayor, don't enforce those bothersome laws that might keep you off the street if you are evil, and have really strict gun control. Maybe Mr. external_link will have time now that he has "fundamentally changed" America to go back to Chicago and help with more "fundamental change".
 
Maybe there needs to be a NAAWP to stand up for white folks. Surely nobody would be against that, there has been a NAACP for years and that isn't attacked.
 
From the DOJ concerning hate crimes about 25% are committed by blacks. Sense the hate crime bill was sighed in 2009 less than 6000 crimes have been judged to be chartable hate crimes.

For those who want to claim every crime is a hate crime they, hate crimes are defined as act committed against a person or group because of their race. As in this case a disable white person was attacked because he was white. They picked he because being disabled made him an easy victim.

"Hate crimes" are about more than just skin tone. It can be se xual ID (or whatever the latest word is), religion, biological s ex, ethnicity, creed, etc. The mitigating factor appears to be that in the vast majority of cases the "hate crime" label tends to be applied to perpetrators who are white and male. There have been several notable crimes making the news that were clearly "hate crimes" that were not prosecuted as such because the actor was not white, not male, etc. This is why the idea of "hate" being involved in the intent of a crime is flawed. The parameters are not applied equally at all.
