Just wondering...

Yes, I slipped on ice with mine just short of a year ago and cracked 5 ribs. &$^#@# OUCH!

Still hurts when I move the wrong way.

Yes and I recommend Yak Trax. The won't destroy a floor if you forget to take them off but will keep your new tires under you instead of overhead.

Nice boots, UD.

Did you buy at a local Red Wing store? If so, how much do they cost?

Well with the way this year is going and due to the fact that we have taken in a new dog that that requires WALKS with the ice we have been getting i invested in ICE CLEATS to slip over my Booty's . Way cheaper then a broken arm, leg or hip as i do not bounce well anymore.

Are they made in the USA? Leather or that plastic crap from overseas? Bought some Justin that I found out were made in china from a leather substitute. Were out of shape and shot in 3 months.

Just put a coat of polish on mine, which I've had for many years and had them re-soled once by Red-Wing. Highly recommended.

Checking a pregnant cow one cold winter night i slipped and went down I think I might have been out for a while. Had a sick headache for over a week also had a tough time getting back in the house. I often wonder about that going down getting knocked out possibly freezing but one thing I learned is step really careful after that.

I keep a little dry sand blasting sand in cans and coffee cups with sippy lids all over the place. A little sprinkle of sand works wonders and it is cheep and cleans up easily too. You might want to stop at the Dr.Sholes insert display and buy a pair of the supper heavy duty insole coushions. Worth the bucks!

RW store about a mile from me.
Have to order them in. Takes about a week.
Been buying this same boot - model 202 - about every 2 years for close to 20 years.
The old ones were tired but still good. I wear the toes out of them - tiling floors.
When I start wearing my toenails off it's time for new ones. Plus the toesies get chilly in the snow bank.
Price today was $183. I guess I get a "union" discount even though I'm a scab. Dunno...
No sales tax on clothing in MN. (yet)
Real leather. USA made. Good, honest MN company.

Ultradog,

With recent ice (at least down here), perhaps you should have inquired about studded tires. :)

Husband buys Red Wing pull on boots. Loves 'em.

I'll add to the Yak Trax comments. They're great. Also go by Ice Walkers and some other names. But once I wore them in a slushy parking lot and when I went in the store and hit the hard floor I almost went down. Could have been quarry tile, hard and slick.

Yes. I've worn out a pair of those a year for about 25 years. They are by no means snow tires! Better find some chains. Or have a tow strap handy...

I grew up in the Houston area where there are a lot of industry/oil/chemical facilities along the Houston Ship Channel. My Uncle got a BS in Sales from a popular state U. His choice for an occupation was a shoe van and made sales to the workers on site. His product: Red Wing. Red Wing qualified as suitable for company funded work shoes so the folks got great work shoes, occupation related, and the company footed the bill. Yes I agree that if the corporation puts you in harm's way, then they ought to take the tax deductible course of protecting you; farming excepted, especially for the family farm for obvious reasons.

Several years ago I bought a pair of shoes from a popular sporting online sales outfit. The ad said Red Wing. The shoes came in stamped Red WingS.......not the same company and one would expect not made in the same place.
