Guns and Tractors

I really doubt that prices are going to get any better, just be glad it's more readily available now.

Every time I get a new gun my wife asks how many I need. I always say, just one more. Tractors? Gotta get the new pole barn built first. Got my eye one a steel wheeled McCormick Deering sitting in a fence row

I hope MOST of the bs laws get torn out of the books. They have been chiseling away at our rites for years.

For Christmas I used to get the nephews all a brick of 22 shells for under $10 per until all the old "granny women" panicked themselves into a "run on the bank" and caused scarcity and ensuing price gouging by the firearms industry. What a "load." gm

Back in the 70's, I got into the gun business. I would take in a trade and think maybe I ought to keep this one. Soon, I had about 50. I got out of that. A few years later I started trading tractors, I now have about 20. I am going to have to curb this business too. I am goig to sell some, I think. My wife says, which ones, they all have a story. Such as the Super A my Grandpa bought new, the MF 135 my Dad bought new, the JD 420 a neighbor bought new, The 2, 4020's A neighbor bought new. The one owner IH 766 narrow front, I stumbled on. and so on. Tough decisions.

"they been chiseling away at our "rites" for years." That reminds me of a line from the movie Gettysburg where a Confederate soldier tell a Yankee soldier that he was fighting for his "rats". I was very active in Civil War reenacting at the time, and at one event a Confederate reenactor had this large stuffed rat that he waved around saying I'm fighting for our "rats". LOL!!
But, perhaps, Jeff you were referring to "rights?"

Better go ahead buy it now. It can sit in your yard as well as the fence row.Who knows,It may get hauled away for scrap before that new 'tractor barn' gets built.

Once in school in the Marine Corps, we were filling out instructor critique sheets at the end of a phase.

One student asked the instructor, "How do you spell 'rat'?

The instructor did a double take and said, "RAT, I guess".

The student said, "No, like 'rat now'". Got a rise out of the instructor.

When the wife asks "how many" of either, she gets the same response. "I don't know exactly, but more than I need, and less than I want".

Reminds me of an auction I was at several years ago, a young man bought a non-running JD B project tractor. I overheard his young wife telling another gal that she didn't know why he thought he needed another old tractor. I sidled over and commented to her that a man can never have enough tractors or guns, he can however have too many women telling him he does. Talk about dirty looks !!!

I tell the kids, this is their inheritance.

Between tractors, tools, small farm equipment and guns
you'll have every guy within 10 counties coming to the estate sale.

Merry Christmas

Fred
