My wife passed away in March of last year, still getting mail in here name wanting to sell funeral insurance. So I just got this from them so I wrote on app ang going to sent it back in postage paid envelope. ""I would be very glad if you pay my funeral expences as I died March 16, 2015 and my curent address is Greenlawn Cemetary, If you cannot do that then please take my name off your mailing list" I put down what would be her correct age now and where asking for a phone number I wrote : don't have underground phones".

Leroy,

I'm so sorry for this kind of irritation that you are dealing with. I'm sure that it just adds pain to what you are already experiencing. My Mother died in December 1980. I remember all of the junk that I had to go through back then wrapping up her affairs and dealing with all of the "uninformed" sales people who continued to try to contact her.

My sincerest condolences for this additional aggravation.

Leroy. My first wife passed away in dec. 2001. I got junk mail for her for at least 12 years. She got a notice to appear for jury duty right after she died, I called .the county and they told me I had to get them a death certificate. It takes a long time to stop.

When my wife passed away, the two biggest irritations I had was 1st with the county over a couple vehicle titles, too long of a story, but it was a pain in the drain. She had a credit card in her name only. At the time she died, there was nothing on it, or so I thought, turns out there was some oddball service charge for 43 cents as I recall, could NOT get a hold of them by phone. After several months passed and several bills sent, I finally sent them a note in their envelope with the 'bill' explaining things. I received another bill for the 43 cents and a comment stating that SHE would have to cancel the card !! ( yes - really )I sent them their 43 cents - I still have the cancelled check - kept it because it was so absurd. They spent at least 10 times that on postage alone. I did some searching and finally found a password for her account, got her SSN and I was finally able to cancel the card ! It's been four years and I am still getting mail of all kinds addressed to her. Some of that mail is beyond absurd too !

Leroy one way to stop the letters is to take the postage free envelope and stuff it full, and send it back to them. they have to pay the postage and they will not make any money if you do that. Make sure they know who is sending it like that. Every time I get a letter like that I cut news paper up and fill the envelope so full that I have to use tape to seal the envelope. Good Luck

Your story reminds me of my own. Was in the courthouse to renew my registration for my pickup, Dad wanted his name on it in cause something happened to me. Anyway I told the clerk to take his name off. She said the same thing about the death certificate, well I said this is the house of the county records go find it. Name was off and away I went, never went and looked. Another was when they wanted me to pay sales tax on a $200 sickle mower, that I bought to mow the county road ditches, told them I cut it up for scrap before I pay taxes on it, she erased that off the books also.

It was a postage paid envelop and the forn that they sent to send back for more information is what I wrote it on around where it had her name with the address already printed on. And everything they sent filled the envelope.

The wife's nephew died at age 22 about ten years ago. He had had an accident and was being harassed about it by some ambulance chasing lawyers. He also had a couple of credit cards and other things that kinda follow a person around. After about three years of trying to get things settled and straightened out, his dad started having all the mail forwarded to the cemetery where he is buried. Address of the main office with street and space number. It's funny none of the mail ever came back, and some of the phone calls stopped as well. He had no estate, other than a car and a small bank account. Nothing to attach to or sue for.

Not for everyone to do but it worked in this case!
