im in a fix, i have a 95 Chevy k2500 4x4, i hate new vehicles for this exact reason, its "broken" and i dont know what to fix, what happened,; it got hot on a trip into town, got it home and found a bad water pump, no problem, i replaced that, and fixed a leaky front seal while i was in there, i did have the battery disconnected while i worked on it, now the thing wont stay running,[ it ran just fine before it got hot] it will start but hard, and it will rev but then it acts like its running out of fuel, it does this every time, so i dont think the fuel pump is bad , or it wouldn't restart, now i found something online describing this exact senerio, they say the "A/C" has lost its memory, to me A/C is the air conditioner and it hasnt worked in 5 years, obviously there is something else under there with that name, now it says to "jump terminals A and B on the ASDL" can anybody tell me just what this is? and if a 95 even has all this? option 2 is im going to rip all this modern crap off the engine put a intake and 4bbl on it like it should have had to begin with , even if i have to throw a aluminum keg in the bed for a fuel tank. all the other trucks on the place are older from a few years to decades, they dont have these problems

Is this a diesel? If so,sounds like it's looseing prime,or sucking air. Put a clear plastic hose from filters to injector pump. start and run it.Watch for bubbles.

I agree some what,
The idle air control (AC) lost it's memory.
Usually driving it will reestablish it.

If it won't run enough to drive have other problem maybe needing a re-flash.

1995 still used a prom chip in the computer, no reflashing needed. Check to make sure all wiring connectors are firmly connected. Shorting the A-B terminals will put the computer in diagnostic mode on a 95 and it will flash any codes with the check engine light. The automatic transmission on a 95 is controlled by the computer so if you change to a carb you will have to buy a stand alone controller for the trans or install an earlier non electronic one.

thanks, this one's a 5 speed stick, automatics have a bad history of failing with me lol

I have a 95 K1500 with a 350. I had this same thing with mine. turned out the center conductor on the coil wire to the distributer had been eaten away. Exactly same symptoms as yours. I was getting ready to change the fuel pump when I stumbled on to the problem. The coil and wiring for ignition are not very water proof.

ounds like same symptoms that I fixed on '92 with a new fuel filter, just a couple of months ago.

ok i checked everything suggested, then jumped the a and b terminals on the diagnostic plug, the code read coolant temperature circuit, the wiring looks fine, so im assuming i fried the sending unit when it got hot, it got up to 230 or so,im going to go get one, i'll let you know what that does

f I remember correctly, there are two coolant temp sending units, one near thermostat & one in head & I believe one is for control computer & other for instrument panel.

Just saying, make sure your battery is FULLY charged.
I have had 2 do this, battery went bad suddenly. Would start, shut off, start, shutoff.
Try it and let us know.

thanks jmor, i got to look for another, i just looked at the usual one on the left head on the side
