Doing Chores in the Cold

I'm glad it's not that cold here Rusty.
We've got more snow than you do though.
Stay warm, stay safe.

Another thing for your fluffy kitties. When you go shopping pick up some cans of Alpo dog food. You want the chunky lamb and rice cans. Have a lite green band on the top of the lable. The lamb is really good for them and a can everyother day will keep them in good form. Cats love food that has strong smell and they will love you to death. Very nice farm video,,,very nice. Thanks.

Was 15F here Saturday, but spent the day moving snow.

I put my location on the map and the button is about 15 miles in the wrong direction. I haven't tried very hard to fix it yet, need to do that. It doesn't seem very easy to do so far though. Maybe someone can explain it better...

Hot baked potatoes in the coat pockets aint a bad idea. Keep the hands warm and can be eaten later. -25 is a bit cool. Gonna get colder, but still a bit cool.

Be careful, work safe.

(quoted from post at 03:04:58 12/18/16) Where are you? You didn't make it onto the YT Members map. I'm thinking Saskatchewan?

Using the modern view of the forum and it gives my location. You are right, Saskatchewan. Only -27F here this morning so its warming up . :)

Only the owner of the site can move or delete your marker.
He post on YT often.
But if you have it within 15 miles I would leave it alone.
We just need a general idea of where you live not your exact address.
This is the internet where all kinds can see your info.

I never looked at "official" numbers yet, haven't taken time. -1 was the high yesterday, guessing that wind was over/close to 30 mph at times. Wind calmed last night, lowest I saw the thermometer was -20. Went out before 6 this morning, electricity went off about then. Cows drank out the waterers, so the floats/tops are froze, then the bottom (shouldn't be too bad). Electricity came on in 3.5 hours. I have a livestock only well in a pit, low pressure kicks out the pressure switch (in case of a leak, ...safety feature...), several layers of tarps and blankets cover the metal pit lid (no heater), will have to pull all that up to get to the switch to turn it on, and then thaw the waterer tops.

Not too bad, I'm not going to attempt starting a tractor until about noon, supposed to get to 20 today, hayed extra yesterday, still little wind. Warming my toes and fingers feels nice.

Thank you for sharing. It's nice to see other places. I especially liked your ingenious above ground plumbing. All my hoses are froze and I'm thinking about rigging something up like that.
The video really got my cats attention. I'm not sure what he was thinking but he kept an eye on his food dish for awhile. Both his brothers are gone and he has been alone for awhile.

(quoted from post at 10:29:17 12/18/16) Here ya go. Found last can in trash. Time to hit the store for more. Loved your fuzzy ones.
That looks pretty tasty alright. Of course it is almost dinner time here. :) Would be pretty fancy eating for my barn cats. They seem to fatten up pretty good on baked potatoes year round. I grow my own and they do not cost me anything. Plus I like to think the cats might hunt a few mice too if they are not over fed. Although in this cold weather I make sure they get a little extra.

Thanks for the video, it brought back memories but am thankful that they are just memories, I don't have to tend to animals in cold weather anymore.
