Ford 3000 high engine oil pressure

what should the oil pressure read at idle? my gauge is reading 48 psi at idle.

First thing I would do is verify that the gauge is correct.

THat is just fine. When their engines and pumps were new, you could expect 60 psi at idle.

If you oil too is thick at startup, you could switch to a winter viscosity oil, like a 10W-40, 5W-30 or 0W-30. Check the owner's manual for what the manufacturer recommends in your winter temperatures.

Is that warm or cold, rebuilt my 4000SU a couple years ago with new oil pump, this summer at idle the oil light flickered so I put a gauge on to check actual pressure.
With 15w40 Delo it has 75 psi cold and 35-40 at low idle (600 rpm) hot, with 100 hrs on the oil.
