My employer decided to have 2 of his skid steer tires filled. We picked one up today, well they are heavy. The tire jockey ended up rolling it over to the service truck and using the lift gate. When I put it on I made sure it was aligned perfectly. I thought I'd see if any one else has had their tires filled and if you had any issues.

J.Wondergem, It's in the salt pile now. He has downgraded it to that and jobs around his house. It's the mud and cobble stones that have been a problem the cobbles get between the frame of the machine and the tire then pop the bead. He say's now it hard surface only but that always changes. I am wondering about stress on the driveline with these heavy tires.

One of my friends had a junked Crafstman heavy duty mower. It had the same size rears I use 23x10.5x12 turf tires on the rear. I made a semi mistake by asking if I could pull off those rear tires. An hour later and a he..double.. ll of trouble they were loaded into my explorer. Good golly miss molley were those things ever heavy! Just as you said, they were foam filled and there is a big screw in the center of the tread to let the air out as they filled them. No kidding a normall ten or twelve pound wheel and tire now weigh 70 or 75 pounds!! They work but remember they no longer flex so they are almost like steel wheels on an old tractor with a much smaller diameter.

We had an 1845b case skidder. Was cleaning up an old farm site and kept getting flats and tearing up tires. Put new tires on it and had them filled. No more flats. Ride was a little rougher, but the weight really helped the machine.

Had the front tires foamed on the TO35 Ferguson.

Didn't really change the ride quality, but the front end wants to shimmy a little when getting the speed up.

They are heavy, but that's a good thing when mowing.

Best thing though, did what we wanted, no more flats!

Yes those skid steer tires and rims are way heavier. No....no you must have a little wife. He he wink

Glennster, This is a 95XT it's been a good machine just get tired of flat tires. He solved that problem a few years ago with the purchase of a TR 320 tracsteer. My only complaint with that is cleaning the tracks out. Did it yesterday and there is no room to get behind tracks and end up using a piece of rebar to get the hard to reach places.

Steve, I know what your saying about mowing. I did some for a friend this summer and had a front go flat. A 4 hour job ended up being all day.

Jeffcat, She was once! A few years before we met she worked the beer tent at Hunter MT. ski resort in New York and met this guy.

We do alot of brush cutting and logging/land clearing with my brothers skidsteer, he has had a number of flats, someone asked him why he dosent fill the tires with foam, he says it would be an even more bouncy ride, He also dident want a track steer because of the cost to replace the wheels ect all the parts that wear out that the tracks run around. My friend that has Cat track steeres said it is $2500 per side to fix them when they wear out.

I tubed all the tires on my skidsteer....lots less hassle. If they got flat I can patch in 15 minutes and never fight them to seat the bead.

Work well for us on our Massey. Like built in wheel weights. Just take your time if brush hogging; don't want to hit a groundhog hole.

Greg we used to send them in for the farmers, did a lot of skid steer and front tractor tires. put 4 new skid tires on for the neighbor. His wife ran it into the side of the hog house later in the week. ripped the sidewalls on 2 tires. that was 12 or 15 years ago. As far as I know those tires are still on the loader. If they did not have foam in them they would have been destroyed. Kinda expensive but well worth it. Put tubes in the tires and have them fill the tubes that way if you do have to replace the tires the stuff is not stuck to the rim or tire.
