Why does transmission pump out oil in to rear steer clutch housing
therefore pumps transmission empty. have to drain rear steer
housing. need trouble shooting help, what is cause, and how to fix???

You have a seal leaking on the output of the Trans. into the
Final Drive.

Need to break the track, pull the final drive assembly and replace the seal.

Bad news; the other side probably won't be far behind.

If this is like a FA 10 dozer -

We had this problem. And thought it had to be the rear seal between transmission and bevel gear housing. Until our supplier said "Might be - but there is one thing that you haven't figured about this animal"

Check the pump that supplies oil pressure to steering clutches and brakes. It pulls oil from the crown wheel compartment when all is working correctly BUT

If the front seal of the pump is worn it also pulls oil from the torque converter housing and the transmission side and dumps it into the crown wheel case.

The comment from our supplier who fingered the problem was "There is a front seal kit that I won't tell you about as a whole new pump is not very expensive"
