Took Susan to the hospital this morning. D.Ka.(Diabetic Ketoacidocis). Started yesterday with food poisoning.A hamburger from A&W at noon. Started throwing up and diarerea about 5:00PM.. She threwup several times during the night. She got dehydrated, blood sugars off the chart. She will be hospitalized far a couple of days till everything gets stabilized. She has been under very good control, but that kind of thing can sneak up on a diabetic real fast.So glad we have such a good 'small town' hospital here. And she knows everyone there, since she volunteers there one or two days a week. They will take good care of her.

Wishing your wife a speedy recovery. I am diabetic and some times it doesn't take much to through a monkey wrench in the works.

Holy Cow! Hope they get her back on the farm asap. Sounds like she is in good hands so all should be OK. Lucky you didn't get it as well.

Several years ago there were three of us that went to a little restaurant and all had the special which was hamburger steak. Two of us got deathly sick with food poisoning and the third was never bothered. We all had the same thing. Food poisoning is bad enough when you are not diabetic. Wishing her a speedy recovery - Bob

Hoping your wife has a quick recovery. Thank you for the warning, Delta. I'm Type II and never knew about the food poisoning risk for diabetics. I'm on blood thinners and cholesterol meds since my stent in October and they are pushing my numbers up.

Sorry to hear that your wife is ill. You are very lucky to have a "good small town hospital" Hope she has a speedy recovery.

As the father of a Type I diabetic, I understand what you are going through.

People don't realize the issues it can cause. What is just an ordinary case of stomach flu for most, just a day or two off of school or home from work, can turn into a several day hospital stay for a person with Type I.

Please Keep Susan operational. She is the best. Tell her Prescott and I hope for a speedy recovery. Jim/Prescott.

Sorry to hear and hope all goes well. As I recall from living close the hospital was originally built by railroad which also had a roundhouse repair facility. Story as I rember is some disagreement with rail bosses closed all rail facility's. Delta red does local tractor pulling fellows still exist. I have a box full of trophy's and blue ribbons from the day.

Delta is not that far from me, let me know if I can be of help! :)

I hope she gets well soon. I am not a diabetic, but went thru a bad episode of food poisoning a couple of months ago, can't even begin to imagine how bad it would have been for her. Here's a couple of links that will help you ID the culprit. Just in case it's not what you think it is.

I hope for a speedy recovery!

I'm not diabetic, but I got food poisoning once from eating a Big Mac at McDonalds in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Not fun.

Food poisoning is miserable but adding the diabetes to the mix must be worse than miserable. Hope she can get well quick.

Hello Delta Red Food poisoning is no fun.BTDT when I drove truck.Best wishes to her & you both. Richard

Hope she gets well, but wouldn't blame A & W yet, unlikely she got food poisoned in 5 hours.
