2510 gas to diesel engine swap

I know this has been talked about before but can someone tell me if the following is possible without too much extra work.

Thinking of putting a 219 diesel engine out of a 3300 combine in a 2510 gas tractor.

Will that engine bolt right in, or will there need to be any modifications?

Thanks

It is not a hard swap. You will need to remove the back plate from your engine and switch it with the back plate on the combine engine. This will require a gasket and a new rear engine seal. Do not install the rear engine seal without the special tool. Study Deere's free parts web site because you may end up with a problem with the tach drive(I did once when going from a 2020 to a 2510) If your 2510 is a very low serial number it uses a very overpriced rear engine seal. The last one I did we took the back plate to a shop that machined our back plate to take the newer seal. You do not have a big job, just take your time and you will be very happy with the results. I updated my 2510 from a 202 to a 219 and have changed a gas to a diesel many years ago. Tom
