Yes indeed, very sad time.I was at work, truck driver making delivery with radio on.First we knew,we all seem to be in a fog.Boss did not seem to care.GP

I was in a high school biology class. School was let out until after the funeral. We sat glued to the black and white TV thru it all. In line with the current political divide there were those when he was originally elected who had said if Kennedy got elected they would leave the country. The reason - the Pope would rule the U.S. America got past that but I am still waiting for Kayne West to pack up and go.

I was writing a calculus test when the announcement came over the intercom. Clueless instructor wouldn't cancel class. We all failed the test. Instructor eventually came to his senses and threw the results out.

(quoted from post at 15:45:13 11/22/16) 53 years ago today-was a very sad day in our Republic. JFK

That is probably the 1st memory that I retained from my early childhood. I was 5 years old and at the feed store with my dad. Dad didn't have a radio in his truck and we didn't have TV. The guy that owned the feed store told him. Dad didn't like JFK but he was visibly shaken by the news.

Leaving school at noon in grade 12 ..... I remember it well. Absolutely shocking and nothing since has had that effect on me. I guess we all get hardened to tragic news, there's been enough of it since the JFK tragedy. Sometimes I wonder if something similar happened today if it would have the same effect on people. Likely not ......

I remember it well only thing on TV or radio---- except on Saturday night the grand old opery still was on the radio. joe

Funny we were just watching the Walter Cronkite cbs report on Jfk last night, was a very sad day worldwide

I was in the 2nd. grade. I remember coming home from school and my mom telling me as she was in the living room watching the TV that sat in the corner.

I well remember it. I was driving A delivery grocery truck. I had stop to make A delivery. The people in the story told me about it. It was on my oldest Son s Birthday. 11 /22 .
I sent him an email today. He is 62 now.
That was A sad thing.

Remember getting ready to go to church it was also my folks wedding anniversary. I have people ask me about that day and then I ask them what they remember about 9/11 it's sad but the feeling is the same

I just came back from a service call on a corn picker to an older farmer(he was close to 80!) When I got to the shop they told me about it.

freshman in high school industrial arts class. mrs 730 was in latin class she got out of school she said school let out within 20 minutes.
i think we got out of school early too.

I remember I was at school, 3rd grade. The principal came over the intercom and said he had been shot.

Some time later she came back on the intercom, said he was pronounced dead.

I recall the room being very quiet, the teachers were moving around in small huddles outside the rooms, crying and holding each other.

Not a lot was said by the teacher, a few of the girls were starting to cry. We pretty much just sat and did nothing he rest of the day.

My sub, USS Atule SS403 was in drydock, Portsmouth VA. Not much we could do, as we had 3 more month to go. This, coupled with the Cuban Missile crises, were the beginning of perhaps the worst decade in American History since WWII.

The saddest day was when he was elected and brought his brothers along on his coat tails.
